The Whistler Mountain Bike Park and GMC have joined forces to create something new and shiny for riders, the GMC Pump Track. Located at the mid-station of the Whistler Gondola in the Fitz Zone, the new feature is ride-able for any ability level and is perfect for a session with the crew, building your skills, or getting warmed up before hitting the trails.

Built by Adam Billinghurst and his team at Earth Odyssey, our newest venue will host two events this month: the Phat Kidz Pump Track Challenge on July 16th and the GMC Pump Track Challenge on July 23rd. There is more than pride on the line for the latter, as the winners of each the men’s and women’s fields will receive an invite to compete against the world’s best at the Ultimate Pump Track Challenge presented by RockShox at Crankworx Whistler.

Although two brakes on your bike are required when riding the Bike Park, pump track bikes with only one brake can be used but download on the Whistler Village Gondola is mandatory.

GMC Exterior Design Manager, and two-wheel enthusiast, Carl Zipfel came out for the build of the track and to provide his expertise along the way. Adam and Carl took a different kind of test ride once the bikes were put down for the day, taking one of Carl’s works of art up to the Peak to celebrate the completion of the track.

Dear auto makers, if you would like to put your piles of money into our trails, resorts, riding areas, etc., I have only one thing to say: PLEASE DO. We need it.
  • 30 0
Hear Hear. I will happily watch a video about a truck if it means more money for trails.
  • 5 1
@Patrick9-32: you are right!!! But this small pumptrack is build without mechanic only with shovels and some Kids in one week, easy. They should put theyr money in the right stuff and not in things that are easy and fast to build. But anyway, better than nothing...

@aoneal yeah please !! we wont buy your cars but will thankfully benefit from your support Big Grin hahaha if onlyyy

Weird. I thought this was going to be a video about a pump track.

I thought they were going to ride the trunk on the pump track. Disappointed.

Not sure why they didn't build this near the lower lot 5 Dj's..... but either way, in person, it is impressive and almost looks fake.

 Cuz "Precision meets mountain"

There's already a pump track at the DJ's and it got rebuilt this year and is running great!
  • 1 0
so u have to pay to go up an try it/ use it

Go home Whistler, you are drunk!! Having to buy a lift ticket just to ride a pump track and take the lift back down is a cash grab at its lowest. Build the pump track at the bottom and people can warm up before they do laps on the hill and cut down on injuries and increase skill sets.

Put two brakes on your pump track bike and swing down though the park...easy does it is surprisingly spicy on a little bike
  • 5 1
The reason they put it up there is so people like you wouldn't show up for the pump track and not pay them. Having to buy a lift ticket is their entire business model. If you're at the bike park, why wouldn't you buy one?

@greendarthtater: if by people like me you mean people, who want to build communities and get kids into biking and learning bike skills for FREE, then damn straight you are right.
I saw this pump track last week as i unloaded my bike from the lift and we were all shaking out heads in disbelief as to why the hell one would build it up there. I am a paying customer, i can complain all i want.
  • 8 1
@denomerdano: So paying customer = right to be a dickhead. Entitlement much?
Just build your own free pump track for the kids on your property. It'll be great for the community!
  • 1 0
@denomerdano: bmx track should open shortly....Alta lake pump track is free, emerald pump track is free whistler river skill zone is free ....lots if other places to go teach a kid to ride...pretty sure that our little slice of heaven we call home is way better off then many other towns

So if I get a detroit truck I will be a better biker, and all this time tippy had me convinced i needed a toyata taco. man mountain biking has become expensive
  • 7 3
Save the money, buy two old tacomas (in case one breaks down in 100 years) and like four bikes for the price of a not so well equipped GMC, those vehicles are mad loot.
  • 9 0
Toyota trucks don't need to be featured in biking ads... the trailhead is already full of 'em!
  • 10 4
Stupid place for a pump track in my opinion.
  • 6 1
Yea, take a gondola up the mountain (and back don) to ride a pump track instead of just cruising into the village on your hard tail. Somehow I suspect this track isn't going to get the use WBP is expecting.
  • 8 1
Well, assuming that the casual visitor likely won't bring a pump bike and and those that may have/bring a pump track bike....such as locals as well as people that ride the park more then 10 times a year likely have a seasons pass ....it's not such a bad idea....also if you already have a pass from riding the park in the am..nothing keeps you from doing a few pump track laps at sunset....but what they really now need is a beer garden and bbq next to it Smile .... Should have out it at the roundhouse....I think that would have been awesome
  • 6 1
I've already seen so many downhill bikes riding this pumptrack. What are you doing.
  • 3 0
leave it to whistler to build the worlds first lift access pump track, lol.
  • 1 2
WTF? GTFO GMC! You shouldn't even exist, you bloated, worthless, deceitful, parasitic shit bags. This industry has enough of your ilk in it already. I come here for bikes, not adverts for the poorest quality cars ever built. I wouldn't complain so much if I saw a Toyota or a Tesla ad on here, but you stupid fvcks need to FVCK RIGHT OFF! Very disappointed with you Whistler. There are better ways. :/
  • 1 0
oh great, now everyone is going to be doing this now! and also I love this ad!!!
  • 5 2
 Toyota.
  • 1 1
I think I'll just ride the pumptrack today instead of dirt merchant. Said nobody. Ever.
  • 2 4
Why do people still buy GM products? Unless you are planning to get rid of them before 100k don't buy one.
They aren't even a domestic product anymore. Just expensive turds on tires.
  • 2 1
 I loved my 88 GMC 2500 3/4 ton!
  • 1 2
Anyone try it on a DH bike? Could be a workout trying to make it through haha.
  • 8 10
I still hate cars. The first video on pinkbike I couldn't bear to watch in a long time
  • 3 5
beautiful pump track but that car is the ugliest brick i have ever seen.
  • 2 4
