Endura Whyte Team

Sam had a great 2015 taking the UKGE series overall. For 2016 Sam has joined the Whyte family as a racer on their enduro team and also as an engineer at their UK R&D center.

I feel really fortunate to be working for Whyte both on and off the bike. Whyte has a rich history of progressive and innovative bike design as well as being committed to testing and quick to adapt. As a racer and an engineer, being in a position to work with the bikes and on the design of your own racing machine, is one to relish.

On the racing side of things, moving to Whyte for 2016 was a no-brainer. The most important aspect of a sponsorship deal is the equipment you’ll be using, that it’s functional and reliable, providing all the tools necessary to fulfil your potential.

I’ve never felt faster or safer than on my G-160. It’s a great bike for long rides in the rolling South Wales hills amongst the mud and roots. She also loves to go fast and eats up rough terrain. With some great sponsors backing the team, I’m confident the bike will be running sweet all year, even with me riding it

Such an underrated and overlooked company. They make some excellent bikes; it's well worth trying for anyone who's not after a common Nomad.

 looks like a process

I think you mean a Stumpjumper or Enduro.

Quite a few of their bikes in our club, even I got a G160 late last year. Compared to my old Canyon Strive I'm finding the longer, slacker frame a lot more stable and easier to ride on gnarly descents, build quality seems ok apart from the wheels, just replaced the non-drive wheel bearing tonight after 1 month's riding (only 160 miles) but I guess they have to cut corners somewhere, wheels are SRAM Rail 40. Have swapped the brakes to Hope E4's from the Sram Guides, just personal preference, 800mm wide bars and 32mm stem work well, the longer frame and reach compared to my old bike make it feel the same, even though the Strive was a Large and I'm running a Medium G160, I'm only 5'9" but got long arms Smile . The Orange paint seems a bit weak as it chips easily so make sure you put plenty of clear Helitape on it. It's a keeper though, can't wait to race her in a couple months time at the first PMBA Enduro and see how it goes!

i feel like whyte should make a downhill bike...

their enduro bikes ride so well and with them being a uk based brand there is only about 5 or 6 places in the country that you really need a downhill bike that efforts are better spent on making the g160 better,, i own one and the second they bring out a carbon one ill be buying another!!

still, Briton being very strong in the scene of international racing i feel like it would benefit them to make one for the people that do ride those few places in the UK... just a personal opinion that they would make a kickass downhill bike aswell...

I too have been thinking that Whyte should develop a DH bike and a DH team. I have a G160 and have used it at local DH races and it copes perfectly fine. As soon as the G160 points down hill it just flys and I think that they could put together a really good DH bike for some of the rougher places such as Fort Bill and for international races, especially now as they are retailing in America too.

Anyone know the music? Sounds like the build up I need before hitting the trails.

Let's hope his mechanic has lots of suspension pivot bearings as this bike eats them up. Whyte bearings are made of cheese.

 Lifetime bearing replacement I believe
  • 2 0
Why don't they use bearings that last longer than 6 months. My last full sus(Spec Pitch) had 2 bearing replacements in 7 years.

In my opinion it's all about whether or not you wash your bike. I never wash my bikes. Headsets/BBs/bearings last ages

Ive been running a T129 for 18 months now and the bearings are still sweet as....and a lifetime free replacement service covers any issues so I think it's a no brainier really

My T129 bearings have been absolutely fine. I've covered a few thousand miles on it in '15, from dusty trails to winter grinding paste, and the bearings are still smooth and tight. Looking to pick up a G160 soon. I'm a big fan of Whyte.

lucky49.... you wont be dissapointed buy it!!!

I've not owned a bike that hasn't suffered bearing failure with in a few months. Specialized was terrible, every bearing (inc Wheels & BB) was replaced within a few month, Bronson frame took 6. They all seem to use shite bearings

Congrats ... Hope you have a great year.
