Chad's Place

Some test footage from the RC cable cam I have been working on. This little shoot was its maiden voyage, footage is from the end of last season, 2009. I've been tinkering with it for the last few months trying to work out some little kinks I found with it during this test. I'm starting to get anxious for the warmer weather so I can get out and giver another go.

that's sick. I bet if you hung more weight on it, it would be more smooth. Just a thought. Really cool though.

hey glad ya liked it. I've been toyin around with it over the winter, I've added a few mods to it, and now I'm gettin anxious to get out and use it again. Hopefully I'll have some more pics/vids of it up soon.

The problems I think with this vid was the camera was set on auto focus, so I think that may have been part of the prob, and then I think the line was actually to loose. At the moment I'm using quarter inch rope so its hard to get it super taut without it breaking. I'm gonna be investing in some quarter inch steel cable and I'm hoping that may cure most of the problems; I should be able to get that super tight.

Thanks for the suggestion though, I appreciate it. Every little bit helps out and thats how things get improved upon. The weight issue like you suggested is actually gonna get tried out when I hook the 5D to it, thats one of the mods I did over this winter.

are you able to view what you are recording remotely? like a screen or what not. Anyway yea looks great man, now I am even more interested in building my own.

Nope not at the moment. That is one of the things I would like to eventually add to it though. That and I want to be able to have the camera pan and tilt remotely too. Eventually I will get around to it; I hope.

Yea, you might need another rc car to do that. One rc car usually has two motors right? one to turn and one to drive?

I have all the parts, its just a matter of me sitting down and figuring it out and putting it together. Servo's are what make the car turn and I have a few of em kicking around; Thats what I'm gonna use to control the pan and tilt mechanism.
