That doesn't matter if the original is almost 3 minutes long. Here's a direct quote from the rules.

"Now you can create your own unique trailer. Your trailer should be no more than 120 seconds (2 minutes) long, using only the provided footage, and your own choice of music."

You should shorten if for the contest, just pick what you think would be the best footy for your edit.
