Chris has taken his Mongoose Maurice fixed gear bike to the streets of Barcelona to see what the Spanish city streets has to offer in terms of a challenge. This is the second fixed gear video from Chris. The first one has been watched over 65 thousand times on this website alone, check out the next instalment now!
thats sick. his style and skill trumps the no helmet. why hate on fixies anyways? not everyone that rides one is a hipster. riding fixed takes balls period.
Thank you finally someone who understands riding fixed is just simple and not a life style as everyone makes it out to be ppl should try it its easier then you think but prewarning make sure you have leg power to stop you and straps or a brake
lol
in the intro i thought he was just f*ckn around and then POW he starts jumping ang grinding that bike all over town .
this guy could ride a exercise bike down some crazy shit and still make VOD !!!!!!

that was absolutely mental. loved it. i can see the attraction of the fixe buzz. whole new level of street riding and having to work out where the pedals will be on each section. i think that would be a great test of skills for any rider.
watched it a couple of times just to appreciate the skills in there.
have fun on your bike

I was not expecting too much of this video. I askes myself what someone can do with a fixie thats so interesting to get VOD??
After watching it I'm stoked.
Ultra-major props to the rider.

I'll let you off for being Australian but every Brit knows this guy is best known for his trials riding. This fixie thing just seems to be an experiment for him. Check out his other vids, he doesn't need a dj bike. http://chrisakrigg.com/?page_id=3
This is an awesome bike vid!! It goes to show you that it doesn't matter what style or type of bike you ride. Just being out on two wheels is fun no matter what your doing! Rock on Buddy Love this VOD!!!
This would have been really impressive on a street/trials bike, but on a FIXIE?
My mind has been blown.

Wow, this is the first Pink Bike vid I've actually watched in a while because of all the same old same old, but this is a nice surprise for sure. That was really fun to watch and the editing was fresh. I will probably never try most of that on a fix :-)

hmmmm barcelona.... street heaven! sweet riding , sick on a fixie , gotta love this movie , should be wearing a lid.
If someone could fly on a bike, this should be the man
awesome the way you ride a road bike, un gear, brakeless and no flats
GJ!

The song playing in the beginning is Asturias by John Williams.
spotify:track:2u6GTNZF07O4mmFg8CZozY
I have been wondering what song that is for probably 5 years, so I hope this helps someone.

so sick but at most of them spots i was just thinking how sick it would be on a bmx/street bike
still sick tho
exactly what i was thinking too, i hope he took a proper bike so he could ride that to its potential.
decent! i thought he was a wanna-be at the beginning cause of all the crashes but he's a awesome rider, he out rides me by 200%
This should be VOD. This is a good showing of progressive riding. Getting a basic bike and adding mad skills. How far can you go? Chris will find it. Good job.

Most of this stuff didn't really leave an impression on me. A couple good tricks, but a lot of "oh look I rode up a sloped bank and down again" stuff.
Fixie "freestyle" looks pointless to me. Uglier than 26" MTB's for street, which look pretty ugly as it is. What's next, freestyling on penny farthings?

Well yeah, I would too.
But there are things you watch to be amazed at the skill and technique, and then there's the all-too-popular "video of a guy getting hit in the nuts with a football". Some things you watch just to laugh at the guy and get the schadenfreude out of your system.

No I just think that since the invention of proper width handlebars and the freewheel fixies are rendered pointless...
well people wana look cool with ther cleen brakeless brakes and do tricks with a fixed gear, you can do some snazzy things with a fixie
If that were true then why not make a fixed gear BMX or trials bike? THAT would be cool! Like Akriggs brakeless trials bike but with no freewheel...
Cool. Just seems like the lack of standover is limiting him, not to mention the skinny wheels and bars!
So if he rode with a dead seal tied behind has back, a blindfold and tyres covered in oil, it would be more impressive?
No, it would juste be stupid. Like fixies....
No, it would juste be stupid. Like fixies....
No, it was a serious response. You said fixies are impressive beause it's hard; there's loads of things that make riding harder that you could do if that was your only motivation for riding a shit bike that doesnt work properly!
I thought it was quite out of the box thinking actually.
This is a whole avenue of cycling opened up! If we're doing things just because they make cycling harder there's almost no limit to what you could do.
You're an innovator really. We could try riding bikes with square wheels or maybe have steering that went the opposite way to the handlebars like at the circus.
Just don't pretend it's fashionable or unique, because then it would be like the fixie craze.

A lot of things on a fixed gear is actually easier and more enjoyable, there is more to them than looking kinda' cool you know.
So either get your big head out your ass and learn about what your talking about before you start talking shit, or just shut up and stop annoying people about a bike you don't like, its pretty pathetic

Sorry for annoying you, I didn't know fixie riders were so sensitive.
I do find it a little hard to believe that a bike with no brakes that you can't freewheel is "easy" to ride. I have found them rather cumbersome and awkward to be frank.
Attempting to remove my big head from my ass will probably be a long, slow process but with the support of the Pinkbike, I'm hoping that in time, it will be possible.
Shutting up now ;-)

If this guy can do that on a fixie....
Then just imagine what he would be able to do on a bmx.
BMX GOD.

crazy riding man... im really confused about this frame though.. can somebody tell me if this is not a road biking frame???
that was amazing. if everyone, wait, no, if ANYONE else rode a fixie like that, fixies would stand a chance of not being lame
Theres tons of guys who can do that kind of stuff with a fixed gear, it just isn't in the spotlight right now :/
If they can do this stuff it would be in the spotlight.
The sad fact is that fixed gear bikes and riders are inferior to BMX riders in every way. It's not a sport, it's just doing street riding on adn unsuitable an impractical bike.
Think how many possibilities would be opened with the use of 20" wheels and a freewheel.
Yours sincerely, a fixie hater.

sweeeet vid chris, and sick editing too, loving the little color trail things.

that poor poor bike.. I dont know how in the world that skinny tires hold up to all that stuff he does.. major props to the rider.. that was one of the sweetest displays of riding I have seen.
Wow, PB contradicting themselves with the no helmet rule. Haha good riding though, who ever built those wheels, I want some. Bloody strong. Mint video.
Chris you amaze me again with your fixie trial styles
but please man protect yer head, not only for you but as an example to the impressionable youth
i will send you a flourescent orange lid if you like
it would be a shame for a beauty like you to hurt yer head
keep up the wicked riding and editing

pretty lame video, don't understand the fixie 'scene'.
might me a laugh to jump a road bike, but investing that time into it to try and be cool or unique just doesn't work for me.

in 21st century he's using 28" bike for street.. Even without helmet it's vod vorthy in 101%.. Mad skills, and balls of steel.
I really hate fixies but this made me change my mind a little, its jus that all the fixie kids around here are scene emo and fresh kids f*ck em all.
You guys are all just haters! Fixies are sooo fun! I bet most of you guys have never even thrown a leg over one. Definately something different when your used to a dh bike hahah and a bit of a challenge! I'm not saying that everyone should be a emo hipster but the bikes sure are a good time! My 2 cents...
where the hell is this? It's like the people who built the city purposely constructed stuff for people riding street.
its kinda something you have to experience. the way i like to describe it is that it feels like the bike is an extension of your body. plus there is nothing like the rush of weaving through traffic pedalling at 120rpm.
My favorite part of this video is when that dumb hipster takes a spill on to his pretty little head at the end.
awesome but this chick has more skills on a fixie

Don't know about you necronutz but to me your link just looks like days, no months of hard work and doesn't actually look much fun to do incredibly skilled yeah but just not particularly fun. whereas this vid seems to me to be more about what bikings really about for me which is playing about, having a laugh and trying something new.
i never said otherwise, i said "awesome" his skills are awesome, and yea i agree that its more than just riding a bike its fun trying something new, applying your skills into something else..... if i did not think like that biking wouldn't be huge part of my life. I don't know if you saw the whole video on that link but you cant ignore how skilled she is even though she does it for show or money or whatever.
I think we are actually agreeing, I did say she was incredibly skilled. I just said that I prefer this vid because its more fun.
this is super sick, amazing what he can do on a fixie.. but still F*CK FIXIES. GET A REAL BIKE! (and i dont care about the neg props..(F*CK FIXIES!))
For goodness sake - I said that fixies are retardedly wank. I did NOT say you are retardedly wank. I can't believe I'm having this conversation.

i couldn't ride a fixed gear bike but that was awesome. where's his helmet tho? that would be a good idea.

Ed Tongue is a really sound guy, awesome rider too. I met him whilst doing work experience at Pashley when he still rode for them.
that was cool did not think it was possible to pull all that off on that bike and so smooth very nice VOD

sickest vid ever i love fixies, but about 5 people have asked for the song name an no one has replyed - pleez tell song?
NICEEE :O I've never seen Fixies riding like this :O 360, 180, sick bunnyhops to wheelies... :O Sick rider
[Reply]
Personally don't like it... This is not a street bike and it takes all the charm of street riding out of it..Again personal opinion!

As much as I hate fixies and think they are gay, this video was actually pretty cool and props to the rider.
