Garrett Robertson and Benton Leong SHRED the Silver Star bike park in Vernon BC. Silver Star opened today (June 24th) and is in amazing shape so get out there! Shot with a Canon 5D Mk II with 24-105 f4 L and 70-200 f2.8 and a Canon HV20. Filmed and edited by Eric Marciniak and Matt Butterworth. Song - Cosmic Love by Florence and The Machine.

nice critique dsrider LOL, I'm all about taking crits in order to improve but that was just sad... I admit one choppy pan and one sloppy zoom so you are right, but the exposures are good imo. thanks for the crit anyways even if it was pretty rude and immature...
Dsrider is totally right, benton and garret killed it. But some of the shots in this made me shake my head...It looks good the the average eye but theres alott of room for improvement, especially when your using one of the nicest cameras available to public.

I think all the colours could have been better, the panning in a few shots, the focus seems off in a few aswell. Just giving critique

while i do feel it was an amazing video i do see what steezyesplz means by the pans. some weren't very smooth, but thats the only critique i can offer for the video
Thats interesting that my comment was deleted. I stand by what I said and I guess I will have to restate it so maybe you can open your minds a little bit. This is in NO WAY one of "the best pieces of video all year". Its decent. But come ON the guy has a 5D for christ sake!!!! And to Shred NZ what do you mean the over and under exposures were on purpose?? Why would you do that to your video.... do YOU know anything about video?
Now im going to give some examples.
Second shot is out of focuss, why?? It looks sloppy.
Shady Pan at 45 seconds
Half of bentos body is out of frame at 55 seconds
1:11 is over exposed and there isnt any texture in the second feature
Shady pan again at 1:18
At 1:22 there is nothing in focus in your foreground when you are obviously going for the focus on a shrub then the rider type of thing.
Shady zoom at 1:33
1:52....
2:16....
2:41 the riders are out of focus
3:12 rider goes out of frame and its a sketchy pan
3:42 is Reeealllyyy under exposed.
And alot of the focus pulls were shaky.
This edit is cool. And making a video to capture a whole roadtrip is hard. It looks sick and yea, sure VOD worthy because the riding is amazing.
But I have started to notice how little the pinkbike community knows about video and photo skills. It is ridiculous. This is VOD worthy but how dare you compare it to the collective. Common guys...

The shots that are out of focus are there for a reason. They add variety to the video! and I'm sure if Mr. evergreen-p didn't think they were good he would not put them in.

Alright so every shot wasn't absolutely perfect, we're still amateurs using a borrowed cam...

well one of dsriders vids are worth VOD but it still has a lot of flaws that people can point out too...
We should be able to choose the image that represent the video, just like on VIMEO....this one could be much better then just black if the uploader had this option....it would be better to everyone in pinkbike....
well ill give my 2 cents its a good video of course there are better ones than it and not all clips are perfect but in any video it will have something un perfect with it and also some of dsriders vimeo videos are VOD worthy in my mind your all over reacting

this is one of my favorite videos of all time. the song is aboslutely incredible, the riding is awesome, the camerawork is awesome, everything just fits perfectly in this video.
lool ds your videos don't even compare to this. you think because you do some low quality front to back focusing and non consistent pan shots gives you the credibility to criticize this vid? where is your big vod? while i agree it shouldn't be compared to follow me or other high end videos its a f*ck of a lot better than the B- grade edits you are putting out

pauldh you just need to appreciate how the music was used. the song was obviously picked to emphasize the pure beauty of that mountain and trails. subtle, flowy, smooth, and gorgeous views. i felt it was an amazing song choice to put with a vid.
that wasn't hardcore riding man. it was flowy, smooth riding. if you'd rather a vid with slayer go find some DH racing/hucking. it would fit better there. not here.

the music was pretty bad but the filming was real good and the riding was so amazing for riders ive never heard of
Its pretty amazing watching these two, they have totally different styles but good in their own way. One has more of a racer style and the other has smooth slopestyle. Either way, great riders, editing, filming!

I loved silverstar but on one trail some stupid people where hiking up it toward me and I almost hit them. Then they blamed me saying that I should be a bit more carefull!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That wasn't a pure DH video, it's just freeride, or maybe it's a unique style of riding
