how do you do the orange/purple transitions? i'm starting to see a lot of them in vids and would like to try some.

They're just film burn overlays. Film burns are from misfeeding or finishing the roll when shooting film, causing a flash of overexposed reddish yellow colour. Most people don't really shoot on film anymore so most of those flashes aren't genuine, but alot of people still use that transition in digital videos. You can find stock film burn footage online, and I just overlay it where I want it in my timeline and play around with the opacity and transition fades.
