A MORNING WITH SAMJAM....

The plan was to hike the bike up to the top of the hill then a short ride up a 4x4 track and give a good test of the new head cam. After just about stepping on a snake i got spooked half way up and headed for home.Too much rain, too much mud and way too many snakes....still a good run down the hill though....

Very cool. The spy cam is alright esp considering the price. Man, you are so lucky to have those trails ending in your backyard even if you gotta dodge snakes to enjoy it. Were they aggressive, did they chase you ? I was chased and striked at by a taipan a few years ago.. luckily I was carrying my bike on my shoulder at the time.. threw the bike one way and ran the other.. kept running too. Came back about 15 min later for me bike still shitting bricks ! Agro snakes are no joke esp in the wet season out in their territory.. they def got the upper hand. Take care man.

Too bad for the snake! What kind of snakes are infesting your trails? here in japan during summer we have pythons but they are cool if you dont try to poke them, hahahah!
RideOn mate and please have a merry new year!

no mate, they didnt chase me...i would shit myself man if they did.I have learnt my lesson RE snakes and wet season. Its there turf and i think i may let them have it until it cools down. With the big wet i cant ride anyway haha.Yeah i was told about Tiapans and how they go after you.I was simply pushing over a fallen tree about 2 foot tall,Got both wheels on ground and got on the bike for my ride up to the starting point.I just saw the little one do a 360 and take off.then Mumma snake slowly went past my foot.I turned around and from a stand still start rode my bike over a tree lol.I then got about 10m away and took my helmet off and pressed record onn the cam and i was off for what would have been my fastest ever time down the hill....thats a bad story mate about your snake encounter. It is cool to finish in your carport, dont know too many guys who can do that....take care too buddy.see you next year.

Wow, deadly creatures crawling to scare good people? no good!
Man, you have got to watch out for those bastards!
And hey, if snakes are a big problem, istn't there a way to keep them off your way? like ultrasound emmiters for mammals? I was just wondering...
I'm not scared as much of snakes - here we have some non venomous small snakes so... big difference! So I have the comfort of riding without bites of some mean little crawling teeth with a tail!
I have lots of experience with boars Big Grin they are scared seeing people but can do some serious damage. Mostly some nice forest friends meet me at my local trails, deers, roes, squirrels and such Smile not much of danger from thoseSmile Nice cam action mate, fast ride - get it goin bro! Cool giftSmile

HAPPY NEW YEAR FRIENDS and I hope the 2011 will be better than the good old 2010!

The trail is so cool and the berms and jumps seem very flowy and fast! Very cool to see your morning ritual!!! hahahahaha!!! Sick t-shirt man!! Want one!!! Gonna make a sticker to place on my two rides with our club logo Mick!!! RideOn Fat Butcher master!!!

I will get a shirt for you mate when the next batch comes in.Snowy did a awesome job creating them and is very "arty farty"....I dont know what happened with the sound,it has dropped behind by about 5 sec....I can honestly say that that was the fastest i have ever been down that trail.the snakes scare the shit out of me.Its just a shame i missed the top section as that is the fastest bit for sure....Thanks mate for the words.

I can understand that you turned around because of the snake. Was the head cam a xmas present?
  • + 2

I don't envy you for the poisonous snakes brother, we should all go to the Azores, no snakes there and no snow! RideOn!!!
  • + 1
ok,im leaving now hahaha....what do they have there?
Im sick of the floods too but the snow would drive me crazy.I still want to see it but live in it no thanks. We have big bush fires here and one came through about 12 months ago.Burnt right to our back yard but it killed all the snakes.....looks like they are back again though.A bush fire each year would be nice as since then we have had 2 Cyclones and weeks of rain and the mountain is a Jungle...we have locals who have never seen the grass so long and they have been here for 30 years.....Bloody tropical climate Brother, you should come here and see how amazing it is.Great rain forrests and wild life is 2nd to none.......its just so hot all year round though.
  • + 1
On the Azores they just have volcanoes and an aggressive breed of herding dogs, in the summer the temperature is 25 degrees most of the time and in winter never below 10 degrees, sounds wonderful, doesn't it? And there is Ricardo with his freeride gang on the wonderful trails!
  • + 1
it sure sounds a lovely place.I could handle that temp and hanging out with Ricardo....a wonderful mate.
  • + 2
Thank you so much for your kind words brothers...Manny, your description of Azores is very accurate...we do have rain...but our temperatures are very balanced allmost the entire year...
  • + 2
Tell us a little bit about the Azores dogs, Ricardo, I'm a little scared, they are supposed to be very strong and aggressive!
  • + 2
It's dogs used by the farmers, in my opinion the dogs aren't the real beast...the owners are Frown

I've heard that they feed them with dry pouder, just to make them angrier...savage, stupid people...I'm an animal person and I find it very cruel.

Most dogs are always on a leech...but some farmers keep them loose on the pastures...but the trails we use are dog's free!!!
  • + 2
Thank God, your trails are dog free, I remember one video though with a couple of small dogs on the trail lol
  • + 2
Hahahahaha I remember!!!! Those were hunter dogs...very small and they were runing from us!
  • + 1
i hate dogs.................they scare me too hahaha
  • + 1
Bintang and FBMC clubs shirts all in one day? You be stylin' Thanks for not showing any video of the snakesSmile
  • + 2
lol,Bintang i didnt even think about mate but the FBMC shirt was meant to happen.Snowy did a great job on these babies.Any video of snakes would have been deleted mate....funny thing is we went to friends house for tea last night (our rental prop) and i was telling them about the snakes on my ride,My mate then said "turn around and look in the glass tank"....it was a 5 foot Python......i coulbnt get out of that room quick enough.....why would you have one as a pet?????
  • + 1
I have no idea why people have those things as pets. We were talking about that at work the other day. How none of us would be able to sleep in the same house as one. I doubt I would even be able to be neighbours with someone who had one.

So I take it that they now own that rental property? Lol.
  • + 2
mate, they can have the bloody house lol....Yeah i agree with you.I dont get its value as a pet.As a belt yes but a pet NO WAY!!!!!!!.. I deadset had trouble sleeping last night as i was thinking of that big bugger snake i nearly stepped on.....They are meant to contact the real estate agent to contact us to get the go ahead,She just called Mandy and she said yes....somehow along the line i was not asked.
  • + 1
lol at belt. I agree fully.
  • + 1
True that.. Could see you were motoring in the vid. Nothing like charging on adrenaline !~
  • + 1
how true you are mate...very scared
  • + 1
nice vid mike how big was that snake
  • + 1
i saw 5 in total....all about 3 foot at most but mummy snake was huge...i dont know as i took off very fast...glad you like it
  • + 1
No snake shots mate. But if you look close im sure you will see one...ask pipes10,he says he can see them all the time in my trail lol.....I did see a Roo early before i could get the Cam ready but they are so fast.....Yes,the snake was poisenous.Of the worlds most poisonous snakes,Australia has the top 10...no shit....nice stat to learn after we got this house lol.The one i saw was the 4th most deadly according to the Aussie wildlife web page.
  • + 1
I will swap ya in a heart beat brother......the problem is though the wild pigs would eat the Bears.I have only seen one of those here but they are bad mothers to come across....man this place i live in is pretty much f**ked up hey for wildlife?
  • + 1
and they call us the "lucky country".......i agree,we have all the nasty shit here but a mate went to South Africa last year and said that was a pretty f**ked up place.
It is beautiful here without a question but the wild life can really turn a great day into a shit day in a flash....so Bears run away eh?
I have seen a few shows on them and they eat folks who go near them....A snake bite is bad but having my head bitten off by a bear would not be good for me.
  • + 1
Haaa very nice one sam Beer i love watching biking - Thanks for showing this film tup
  • + 2
pleasure brother.....thanks for watching.the sound was a bit out but i put that down to using 2 cams....
  • + 1
Never minds cos i cannot hear anyway Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz
  • + 1
 Smile lol
  • + 1
wow...didnt know that stuff about Bears...humans are there worst enemy eh?

A roo get up on the bridge of its tail and with its hind legs rips your gut open and just rips all parts of your body with ease. They are very strong but such attacks rarely happen...happy new year mate
