Here in Toronto, we have a small native population. There was a large, developed DJ trail in the largest city-owned park in Canada's largest city. Now when I say large, I mean about the area of a football field. High park is 399 acres. However, natives claimed that the jumps were on an ancient burial ground. They didn't have any proof, only "messeges in the stars". But 2 years ago, the city hired an archeologist to do a study there, and he didn't actually find anything. September 2010, the natives finally lobbied the city enough to get them to put up temporary gates. But we went around them. Then, they instituted a 100,000$ fine for anyone caught digging there. My friend was digging when the cops showed up, and they didn't give a shit, just told him to leave. Then, in may, they finally got permission to destroy the jumps, and did so very enthusiastically. Still with no proof of a burial ground. How do they know that the pool and baseball field in high park isn't resting on a burial ground. Those jumps had been there long enough that some of my friends dads can remember riding there in their teens. Oh yea, in the 1960s, natives camped out in a park in Hamilton, about 45 mins west if Toronto, because they claimed that mounds there were a burial ground. It turned out that the "burial mounds" were really just leftover dirt from when they were building an 8 lane highway.

It's not a matter of the city not allowed it. Riders are just worried that when the lease runs out, it won't be renewed. Whether that leads to riders trespassing on government owned land, or if a new owner knocks down the jumps i the problem. If the lease gets renewed, no problems at all.

I hope the community backs up the mission to keep the Post office. You want less crime and trouble? Give people a place to ride- Post office is a pillar in the bike park world, it would be an act of terrorism to take it down.
