Northern DH - Ramsgill - Yorkshire Champs

DRIFTY. An acclaimed pornographer spends a weekend at a downhill race in God's county, and getting wild with Team Camus Racing. Songs: Real Big Fish - Sayonara Senorita; Smiling Ivy - Carpet Warehouse; Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench; Daft Punk/Glitch Mob - Rerezzed. Please forgive the dirty lense - it was a dirty weekend!

Yet another champs race in the north which wasn't held on a downhill track. this is getting a bit silly.

 what defines a downhill track?
  • + 1
I'm not sure, and this probably would match a vague definition; but I wouldn't pay to race this as a champs race.

downhill means the finish is below the start. different tracks, similar faces at the top proving that fastest riders will out

you cant say its not a downhill track if you cant even define a downhill track...lol

Okay, maybe it is a 'downhill' track in the true sense of the word; but not in the sporting sense of the word. Downhill tracks such should be technically challenging, and should test your fitness too, but the emphasis should be, and always has been, on riding ability. Anyone can ride down a field, bring on Northern champs at Hamsterley Smile

not anyone can ride down a field and have the balls to let it all loose in the corners- if you look at the times, you can see that the really quick people are a good second or so quicker than the next rider. It was good for fitness too- decent amount of pedalling....

how the hell do you think tracks get started? this track is fairly rutted in and with a dig day or so would make an absolute banger

sorry if it's not 'rad' enough for you

Yeah maybe it's not. I ride a downhill bike, which has 9 inches of travel. Why would I want to race a track where that bike is slower than a shorter travel bike?

a bad workman blames his tools. i'd say 95 percent of people were on big bikes anyway, so it was a level playing field so to speak

I'm not blaming my bike one bit, I'm saying a shorter travel bike would probably be quicker. We obviously have contrasting views.

yeah it probably would, but it was still a fun track, and would be happy to see it included next year, albeit with a few tweaks to the track.

hopefully it will, aside from a few minor grumbles it went well

I was on my big 10inch travel v10 obvs and got 2nd junior... it was soo much fun and i bet the people who raced it found next time they hit a "man made" track with berms they will ride it so much quicker with the skills they developed from riding a track with no berms
