Absolutely incredibly. Keep going at it! i dont know if i would have the strength to continue riding after an accident like that. This deffinetly should be VOD just to inspire everybody to keep going and remember an injury doesnt have to be the end

this video is truly amazing and inspirational, I was blown away when he started kitting up and riding, totally didnt expect it. This is an amazing lesson and just shows how much bikes mean to us.

Just broke my back, compression fracture to the topmost lumbar vertebrae, at northstar at tahoe last weekend....was really depressed and angry for the few days following, but watching the vods and awesome edits like this one really has invigorated the motivation to ride. My friends think im crazy for wanting to ride so bad after something like this, They call it balls, i call it love

Months ago i made the top comment to all of these. In it i said i didn't think i would be able to return to riding after an injury as severe as this one. But i could not be more wrong in having said that. 2 months ago i broke my back in 3 places and was told i would never walk again amazingly i proved the doctors wrong and am learning to walk again. I have a whole new respect for this video, I hope you are healing well God Bless and see you all on the trails

2 broken arms, 1 fractured wrist, a broken collar bone, several torn and miss-aligned ligaments, 2 titanium plates, 8 titanium screws, and a 6 inch long titanium pin.
Worth it.
- + 8
Damn...I just broke my collar bone for the second time in 4 months, and I'm supposed to get one of 'em titatnium plates an' screws set, and I'm freaking out. But a shattered hip, on both sides? No comment
- + 2
iv got 5 pins in my body and have broken endless amounts of bones .... the drive to come back is all that keeps you going during recovery ..... iv got a fair bit of metal in me ... but i think we should scrap this guy in he must be worth a few bob HAHA keep at it mate ! very good video .

Broke left clavicle not twice, but thrice. Separated both a bunch of times. Cracked ribs on a number of occasions. Dislocated and broke a bunch of fingers, but finger-injuries don't really count, do they? A nearly torn MCL..."nearly" doesn't count either (it nearly put me out though). Bloody cuts galore, ad nauseum. These fall in the normal wear and tear category within the mountain biking spectrum, methinks. A shattered pelvis mind you, I can hardly imagine what that would be like. Such an injury might make some call it quits, which would be quite understandable were one to observe such a thing; however, returning to form after smashing his skeleton like he did...that is testament to a strong character, that of determination, and that of passion (I have a keen sense of the obvious). It feels good to have a passion, doesn't it? I tip my hat. Well done, sir!

broken wrist 3 times, broken arm twice, broken leg in 3 places once, broken foot and i have also shattered my pelvis. i didnt need to have it all screwed together etc as it must not have been as bad as his. put me out for months. all i could think about was getting back on the bike and since then (february last year) ive gone on to win races in new zealand in under 19s. its all about self motivation and you have to keep pushing yourself beyond your limits. i respect anyone who can get back on the bike after a bad injury, it shows real character and determination.

two broken collar bones, two broken arms, two torn knees, stage 4 concussion, surgery, fractured wrist, 3 broken ribs, enough scars for an entire army, and im only 16 haha

just got out of the hospital myself after fracturing my skull, smashing my nose and most of the bones in my face 2 weekends back after a bad riding accident. luckily my mouth and eyes where relatively unhurt. my remedy cf is toast, but i'm lucky it wasn't worse. it's an injury that will aesthetically stay with me for a long time, if not forever. it's an odd feeling when something you love to do so much can hurt you so badly, and the whole time you just cant wait to throw a leg back over the bike and get ripping again. i needed a video like this to remind me that we're all in the same boat together. i honestly think the most important thing to do is just stay positive and focus on all the good things you have in your life. it's SO easy to get depressed after a catastrophic injury but the truth is there is always light at the end of the tunnel and things will get better.

a HUGE Thanks to everyone for watching and rallying up some love for our boy Griz and injured riders everywhere. This edit is dedicated to all the riders who went down this season. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

awesome vid, im at that stage now, after 3 months of braking my femur, im already back at biking, and i still don't know if i will race again.
great inspiration for me
thanks
- + 2
3 months ?? i tried after 3 months and it was really too sketchy. i could do some XC but no street/park/dirt and i dont have a freeride/DH bike but if i had tried i would have been really slow and sketchy. im just back now, after 7-8months. my femur feels good now, but as they had to dislocate the knee during the operation, now my knee sometimes hurts like a b*tch.
- + 3
yup, and it depends on age too, im 14 and i guess that is why its healing so fast, im already doing XC like before, and im doing dh too, but im going slowly on dh, even though i don't get any pain while doing dh, im like scared to go fast again.
- + 1
you're right, take it slow because even if you can go fast, your bone wont take a fast crash and it might get messed up :/
the thing is the sooner you start again, the less time your muscles have to shrink, so you'll get back much quicker. after 7 months my muscles were so weak, trying manuals for 30min gave me muscle pain in the whole body, and i couldnt even do them, because one leg was much weaker than the other so i fell aside all the time. this still happens now sometimes. so annoying. but happy to be back.

I was also off the bike for 10 months, did my left femur in 2 places.Things didn't really get better until I had the metal removed 2 years later.I'm not sure my left leg will ever be as strong as the right again but at least I'm riding! It was a long haul but the urge to pin those trails again gets you through
- + 4
total inspiration for me. i broke my leg a year in a half ago in 45 places jumping on my off time of racing. and i now the pain and sorrow that a rider gets when all of their hard work, sweat and tears just vanish just over a stupid injury but now im back stronger than ever and this proves it.

This video sums up what biking is about.
I've recently came off my bike and fractured my collarbone and it does knock you down but if anything it made me realise whats important in a way and its too have fun.
I sit here looking at a Ex RIDEBMXUK Editors notice and i knew i should rip that page out as one day it would come in handy and it's been on my wall ever since finally i've ripped it down as it sums up my desire to get back on a bike and why we are driven to do such things.
Too Get back up, crash after crash...
Biking does something to you. It's not obvious at first but over time it becomes undeniable that the very act of flying through the air, flying down that single track since you were a kid changes you as a person.
You don't realise it but every day you spend on the bike. Every time you pick up a bike you fuel a fire inside you that never dies.
I can't wait to get back on my bike now its a long journey till i will be but i'm never giving up.
The quote below sums it up:
"A ship is safest in the harbour,
But thats not what ships are for"

Super awesome video. I remember seeing the clip of griz crashing on that double and I seriously couldn't believe how bad it was. I recently dislocated and broke my first metatarsal in my left foot while I was riding at highland. Im going in for surgery on Monday and am really glad I got a chance to see this because it's so easy to get depressed and feel isolated when it happens to you. I am actually looking forward to building a bike up this winter in anticipation of next season. You are indeed an inspiration to us all to have persevered and reach the light through all that darkness to return to what we all love. Thanks Griz!!!

When i was 15,i went over the bars on my Saracen Eiger comp,"when saracens were good the first time round",i was at full pelt at the time and drifted off a fire road and into a fence post. When i came to,i had severed my main artery in my thigh on another piece of old splintered fence about 15ft away from the initial impact. This was all told to me afterwards by the way,as i was knocked unconsious.I flat lined in the ambulance on the way to hospital, but was brought back before any brain damage could occur.Blood transfusions and severe amnesia were the order of the day for the next week or so.Other than that,no broken bones, and was back on the same fire road at full pelt within a month.Minus the old splintered fence though.

This video help me to open my eyes. Awesome.
2 years ago i broke my elbow in lot of pieces(now i have a massive articulate prosthesis), snap my nerve, ligaments, tendons of arm and hand, both bones in my arm, damage 3 disk in my spine and damage the L-5 & L-4 in my spine.
I still on rehab, crying on pain some days and i lost my faith, i use to be a fighter, but the last 2 months i been a looser, just depress and space up from the morphine,diazepan,tramadols...
this video and 2 of my friends open my eyes, so i am going to do my video, we all should do it, because there is lot of riders loosing his dream and getting depress as i was, we all need to support each other, injuries are part of our life, but we should help anyone to rise up from it! (sorry for my english, my mother language is catalan or spanish)

sept 3 at harper mtn, kamloops,BC. i broke my back
7 vertebrae, only 6 were able to be strengthened by two screws in each and a bar going down each side of my spine. most of my family don't think i should bike next year, i think as long as my perseverance to get better through the winter, i WILL ride agian

I broke my back in four places three months ago man, thinking i might have a go on my bike round the estate like for a few weeks starting tomorrow and maybe in a few months i'll be all fixed up and start ripping it up on my gambler again. Tell me man, how do you feel about getting back on? i can't wait but something inside me is just screaming for me to stay away from it. the only solution i can think of for any injury is to ride the whatever you got injured on. Thats what i've always done anyway and i hope it'll help me get my confidence back this time. Good luck on the recovery man, you're not alone and breaking a back or neck is more mentally painful then anything else but you've just gotta believe in you're self and think about how good it'll feel when you get back! be like being a kid again so hope you get back on the bike mate
- + 1
This vid and the whole string of responses are incredible. Only three weeks ago I was hauled away on a stretcher with a neck brace from a mismatch with an SUV. I picked up my new, insurance paid, bike today... the day I can get on that bike can't come soon enough!
Good luck to everyone healing up, you will ride again!
- + 1
To my team riders Stan Guerrero and Brian White, you too will overcome your injuries and rise up again to shred. Stan, watching your recovery has been amazing and inspiring. You're on the door step to racing again, and you're stronger now than when you had your accident. Can't wait to see you compete. Brian, keep walking the path and stay positive. You will be where you need to be soon, and come January you will turn pro and start the next part of your journey. I'm behind both of you 100%. My Big Dogs.....come get some!
- + 1
so much respect for that, im injured myself right now, my left calcaneus is broken in a lot of pieces, i can't think about walking for 3 months and then the doctors will see but your accident my friend give me the strenght to stay positive and get back on my bike for the next summer. i seriously think about making an edit for the before and after since i had my contour when i crashed.

my girlfriend shattered her pelvis last week after taking a 45 foot fall while we were climbing. she's a downhiller also, this videos great i gotta show her it maybe cheer her up a bit.

That's what we want ... RISE UP! I had bad luck too - pneumothorax, 3 fractured ribs and so on. I'm still waiting operation for AC luxation shoulder now. I love MTB but I can't ride. So watch over yourself.

3 months ago i broke my acl and both meniscus and ive been doing rehab for next season and just to see thes kind of video i feel like i have to go ahead stand up and ride bikes again for the simple reason that riding is my life

3 months ago I broke my collar bone , I was angry deppressed and thinking what would happend after rehab .... would I still be able to do my stuff on the bike? and yep guys!!! STAY f*ckING STRONG! THAT'S THE WAY WE ROLL! NOT AVERYBODY AROUND CAN HANDLE THIS , WE ARE STRONG PHYSICALLY AND OF COURSE MENTALLY . keep going

Good to see you riding again and willing to take some risks. I fractured my foot and ruptured a tendon 2 months ago when I crashed my DJ bike. This week I am finally back to street riding and I will be going back to snowboarding this weekend. I am very thankful and lucky. These re[HAB] videos are great for inspiring us to get back up. Cheers!

This video sums up how i feel so well it's untrue, i broke my back in 4 places 2 months ago and i've finally got back to walking unassisted, it's so hard to even think how close i came to not been able to ride again, but even with an injury as serious as some of the one's that have happened, it's truly amazing to see people who love riding bikes so much that an injury like any of these only make them want to fight as hard as they can to ride again. Thanks so much for posting this, really made me like i'm not the only one stuck at home trying to heal only a good 4 months till i can ride again now and god i'm going to do everything i can to get back to my old self!

I destroyed my collarbone a while ago, and it took forever to heal (i still have pain) and to go back to riding was awful since all my confidence was gone and I had the injury fresh in my mind. I can't imagine what it would be like if i were this guy.I probably wouldn't be able to ride again. Major props, never stop riding!
