HAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAAAAA cant take this video seriously, because the music is the Theme Tune from "Made In Chelsea" LOL good song but massive tune failure,

You will probs only get this if you are from the UK and have a teenage sister who watches these crappy shows!

the bike had been ridden without bushings in it for a while so the frame had worn down. There was about a 1/4 inch of play

Rambo, I generally function as the key field tech for Manitou at events etc. in addition to doing all the Canadian Manitou Distribution service and tech support work @ Trident Sports here in North Van. Those Green series decal kits were actually just a custom run I made personally for Mike Montgomery @ Red Bull Rampage 2010. When I got back to Canada all my 'homies' were losing their minds over the MM Decal kits so I made sure I had a couple extra... 2012 Production Dorado's are a sick matte black with white. Check 'em out!

just saw that new colour... they look sick! also are they going to be any stiffer for 2012? that's the key thing I like about my current 888 and the reason I havent gone to a dorado yet because of hearing about "lag" in corners
  • + 7
flag ZacSmith (Nov 17, 2011 at 11:30)
For 2012 the chassis remains the same. I wouldn't say the fork has any 'lag' in corners considering how well it does out at the races, but it's certainly true that any inverted fork will have a different ride characteristic than a standard type fork which may take some getting used to at first. Standard forks are stiffer laterally, while Inverted forks are stiffer fore-aft. In this regard the Dorado is 20% stiffer than the competition- The Dorado's design philosophy is sheer speed, superior management of critical velocity impacts and bottomout resistance, while for FR the 888 in your case may be just what you need for your particular type of riding. Considering the leaps and bounds that Manitou's TPC+ damping can bring to your riding however, I would highly recommend trying one out for yourself some time. TPC+ is energy and position sensitive; Super active for all the small rapid-fire hits, and adds damping the harder the impact/deeper into the travel you get. Super plush, nearly impossible to bottom out. Dominates root sections for sure.

Agreed with everything he said try that fork you'll never go back I know I wont. It gives the feeling you can plow through anything, gap something land right into a rock garden with no stress at all. I can't say I've ever felt lag in corners. Go try it it's the best fork out there.

sounds awesome.... I'll definetly get one in the spring last time I had a manitou it was one of those horrible stance's but my friends are raving about the dorado being so much better so I'll definetly try it

Looks like you're running some 24fps footage at 30fps there.
  • + 1
flag sebvickers (Dec 8, 2011 at 18:01)
Brian, if you mean that we made the footage look faster at editing that wrong Mike filmed 80% of it 60fps and some 30 fps nothing edited to make it look faster
  • + 0
flag brianpark (Dec 9, 2011 at 11:30)
Yes, but I think you're working in a 23.98 timeline, so the 30fps footage looks much faster than it should be. At the very least it looks strange, maybe Pinkbike's video encoder just doesn't like 30fps or something.

flag WhistlerRideSupply (Dec 9, 2011 at 18:01)
This video was shot using a 60D in 60p and 30p modes, and edited in a 29.97 timeline, so nothing changed speed except for the intentional slow-mo shots. Some normal speed clips were shot in 60p mode and so have a faster shutter speed than necessary, but in no way was anything sped up. And putting 30p footage into a 23.98 timeline would slow down the footage not speed it up.

No idea then, but PB's compression is definitely playing havoc with something in there.
