An awesome group ride!
Sunday we had a beautiful break from the bitter cold making an awesome day out on Standing Mountain!
RideOn 2 cherry bombs!
Excellent stuff Nico; your morning looks similar to mine there.
Two questions....
What do you two cherry owners make of the RP23 and the Roco? Any significant changes in characteristics?
At 1:04, what are your fingers doing on the brakes...anything or nothing?
Cheers

Thank you Dave!
Its good to hear from you.
The differences between the RP23 and Roco is night and day.
He weighs in at 70-75kg and uses 300psi in the rp23's air chamber.
He says the bike bottoms out easy and the 300 psi feels a little hard at top but doest bottom so bad.
When it bottoms its a harsh clank!
Also he says he cant feel any change in the compression on the 3 settings.
I weigh in at 93-98 kg and run my roco air at 190psi.
The 5 setting tst works great and each click the compression gets a little stiffer, the last is a 90% lock out so you still get a good squish if needed.
The shock is plush with proper sag and never bottoms out.
Even with low air pressure the stroke feels bottomless.
I dont like bad mouthing other brands but, I truly at my weight could never ride a fox air.
I had one on my double but the got a roco and it was magic.
My rune as well came with a DHX air and it felt pretty good, but on the littlest of drops it clanked to harsh bottom.
The roco is the best feeling air shock and coil I have ever tired.
I just got a new vivd air for my cheery as my roco is over 4 years old but, Im shocked at its very very soft performance.
I put 300psi in the vivid and it was still too soft for me?
Im shocked, ahahahahhahhaahhaa
So, Im on the roco and loving it!
I might have to sell the vivid.
Im waiting on some new shims to up the compression, you never know?
So, to answer you question, yes.
There is a huge significant change in the ride.
I have 4 other mates I ride with on roco airs and the all love them saying its a coil!
If you in the market for a air shock the roco is my choice.
It does take some time to dial in but it worth it!
At 1:04 its a steep right turn and I just did a jack-knife turn rather than leaning the bike.
Nothing special, ahahhahah

Cheers Nico!! Excellent information.....
I am running a DHX air on a Bottle Rocket with a U-Turn Domain up front and I have been having trouble getting the feel of the bike just right. My hardtail BFe with a Pike on it just flows over and around everything yet I can't seem to get the Brocket to feel as.... as..... responsive.
That has left me thinking "Is it the Geo" or "Is it the suspension platform".
I was blowing through the rear end travel on the DHX yet the Domain wasn't using any more than half its 160mm... so I put a super soft spring rate on it yet that hasn't seemed to make much difference and I can see a full overhaul to check out the oil levels coming on in the Spring holiday.
As for the DHX playing with the PSI (I am just under 70kg) tends to make it either overly plush with a harsh bottom out or just plain harsh even in the top stroke.
I hate throwing money at problems and would always rather try and sort things out myself, yet I am tempted by a Lyrik to go with the DHX...
Then again, you rave about the Duralux..... given the price diff (Lyriks are crazy prices right!!!),
Mmmm.... a holiday tinkering maybe...
Ride on!
And Jack Knife turns..... no brake fiddling then, just pick it up and throw it around...??!!

I salute you!.... I think that was one of your best vids yet mate: EPIC! The editing was top-notch and great use of light and colour, and as i would come to expect....... great riding
Well done to everyone involved!
Really?
Thank you mate!
I have too many vides over the last 2 years to think of this as my best, ahahhahahha
I never know how an edit will evolve but the music, riding and angles all come together as I start editing, this was actually a difficult edit trying to get all my mates!
Lighting and color is all natural and I never try to match or compensate but Im super happy when the natural light shines through, ahahhhahahha
RideOn matey!

Such a peaceful and sunny afternoon and then - the crash! But that's what many people like to see, unfortunately. Riders and bikes were looking great!
RideOn and wear your knee pads (as if I would

That evening a storm blew in and this week is all rain!
I had a small little crash and unfortunately I did not have my pads on.
We had just ate lunch and my pads were off, ahahhahhahha
But a little swollen knee and Im ok now!
Its cool when we have big group out but its tough making a video with everyone, ahahhahah

Thats what I said!
It was almost to the top of the mountain so, it naturally has been growing or someone planted it.
I said it looks like coffee but my buddies said there is no way coffee would grow here?
I have never seen a real coffee plant so I dont know.
The berries were plump and looked delicious, the inside was just a white bean but smelled very bitter, ahahahhahhaha

Thank you, its awesome but kind of weird as well.
They have no expectations other than to just ride and make videos like I did in 2011.
So, its pretty easy as I was going to keep doing what I like anyway, ahahahhahaha
The bike too is pretty rad, ahhahahahhha

Thank you mate, I dont really like crashing!
Its always out on the littlest spot where I crash and get hurt.
It was after lunch and we were just having a mellow session on the lower trail.
So, I had my pads off and was unprepared, ahahhahahahhahahha
Its all good!

It was a cool day!
The trail was frozen which made for some funny sections, hahahahhahah
On the way down as its defrosted we had some scary moments!
RideOn, thank very much!

Having fun with your bros is always a good time on steep rocky trials!
Im terribly sorry your feeble morality is lacking the imagination of viability.

Yes!
I got a call from DABOMB in December and they offered me a video sponsor ship.
They gave me the frame in return for videos like I did in 2011.
They wanted some video content of their CherryBomb trail bike that could be seen on how the bike is rode!
I was tickled pink!
But, I was extremely sad to tear down the Rune.
The Rune was the ultimate trail bike for any ride from XC to DH!
I still have the Rune and am keeping her for safe keeping!
