(*no hate on mtb's here, just spotting a trend) there is so much good trails content out there, it just astounds me how none of it surfaces on this site, and if it does it is normally a year late

I actually dont hate other peoples trails, im more critical with my own trails than i am with anyone else, i just like to help people improve their building where i can. Wooden kickers are unforgivable though

I'm just guessing here, but don't they build jumps that big with that type of kicker because its the easiest way to practice for contests? I mean how can you practice for a course like the boneyard in whistler if your just riding regular sized jumps in the woods? And I'd guess it's the same story with the tricks, they need to do them to practice for contests.
