Filipe Perestrelo, the supermarket bike rider gives us the brief story about his passion about this sport and the dream of, one day, own a downhill especialized bike.
During filming for the contest Filipe nearly broke his neck and left the frame in three. Filmed by Miguel Freitas at Madeira Island, Portugal.
if we could donate money to this guy and give him our spare parts, i would 100%... he deserves a mint bike and a couple of sponsers looking at how quick he is,, puts me to shame haha
Giant if this guy doesn't win you should at least be able to give him a frame. Guys a great rider and isn't this contest supposed to be supporting the riders who can't buy a bike to take the abuse. A lot of the riders in this contest already have a pretty nice bike, at least from what I have seen. Just saying

should start a forum for parts donations or something, surface shipping is really not expensive though it takes a while. would be good to organize the donations so that the parts will work with each other, and probably should have parts that would work with the glory since he will most likely win it.

We all complain about what we don't have; the next 2013 line of parts, that new frame, expensive accessories, etc.
Yet this guy "had" a bike that probably had no more than 4" inches of dead travel and tires down to the threads...something one of us would never want to ride or even make fun of when we see a bike like that pass by.
Really puts stuff in perspective and shows how lucky we are, cause we would only ride top of the line bikes while Filipe is going just as hard with almost nothing.

ok this guy needs too win, not just anyone can take a suprmarket bike like that and shred that hard. if he's riding that hard on that bike, imagine him on something more downhill specific, SO much respect for this rider

love this video, i know how you feel filip, im 28 now and as a child my parents didn't have much money, i always made the best of what i had and always surprised people on better and way more expensive bikes. I finally got myself a downhill bike after years of saving and had to sell it 6 moths later after losing my job and house. now, 4 years later im getting back on my feet and have just got my second ever downhill frame. however i still a firm believer in ITS NOT WHAT YOU RIDE ITS HOW YOU RIDE!!!
My family is from 'pont delgada' so any parts i can find lying around ill get sent to them and try to get posted to you from madiera.

You should win that contest IMO! I know some guys that have 5000$ dollars bike and cant ride half as good as you! Props to you man

I was thinking, 'how has he not snapped that frame yet.' Then hey presto, I saw the most catastrophic bike failure I've seen. Wow, and I thought old Kona's were bad, but then with one of them he'd have to be up there in national levels. Wonder what he could do with a Demo/Session calibre bike. Much respect here!

Does kickstarter support fundraising for this kind of thing? I'd really like to be able to have the MTB community gather funds for a new bike for him, but I don't know where to start. If someone starts a fund I will gladly donate.

Most inspirational video of riding or to do with riding! makes me appreciate everything ive been able to buy for riding and makes me realise no one needs an amazing bike, if you care that much about riding. This guy shreds as well, stylish, smooth and quick, also its the fact that its an independant video, not made by a big name, just an individual story about riding and thats what the contest is about. surely this is a winner?

Filipe parabéns acho que é mais que merecido que ganhes este passatempo, nem todos nascem com pasta no bolso, e não são as bikes que definem um rider é verdade que ajudam mas mais importante é ter um kit de unhas como tu tens, tomara muitos fazerem o que tu fazes, eu por acaso tbm começei assim até um dia arranjar um trabalho passei as minhas ferias da escola todas a trabalhar para gastar num dia numa bike de DH e digo não me arrependi do que fiz, não se pode ter tudo de mão beijada mas tu acho que ja merecias uns bons patrocinios, da minha parte tens todo o apoio nunca desistas abraço

his dedication and passion for the sport just blows my mind, based on the skills and speed in the video he can outperform most of the kids with proper DH rigs here. I hope he goes a long way, just always keep humble.I've met kids similar to his story here in the Phils and later on became a**holes.

Pro's all have 5-12 bikes easy in their garage. I have only one but if I was one of those guys with 7 bikes plus, for sure I'd donate one to this kid!
