Good stuff, really liked it.

Not sure who the doc is aimed at though, is it trying to get a new park? If so, Id focus less on the injuries side, sure its due to riding on the road, but its a bad side of the sport which is best left un-highlighted.

Also, your voice was kinda monotonous throughout the vid, no offence like Wink

Duane.

i think the monotone of the voice was a good thing, it made it sound quite serious, not only does it highlight the bad side of riding but it also highlights thats most of the time it's not our fault.. unless we're acting dickish.

nice video :]

nice video and it was a good day for the bikers but wasnt the whole day made to promote a safe place for bikers to ride. if its so safe i only saw one person in that video with a helmet on or any type of protection. i always wear my helmet now because i learned the hard way and smashed my head into the ground so they really should be promoting that kind of safety stuff aswell.

flag mitch133 (Jan 25, 2009 at 18:32)
im just saying it dosnt do as much as you think anyway and i just dont get why people have to spend there time worrying about other peoples choices like if you wanna wear one fine im not gonna say anything to you but if i dont wanna wear one and u give me shit for it you are a worthless pile of sh2t

flag kingfisher1 (Jan 30, 2009 at 21:38)
you most be a realy smart man.

i still think it help to wear it.

you know any extreme sport that dosnt require wearing 1?

use a full face mx helmet.

flag mitch133 (Jan 31, 2009 at 14:44)
dude its all about choice thats why i ride bmx instead of playing football or baseball im sick of ppl telling me what i cant do i can wear a helmet and i do sometimes but im just saying that you cant fault somebody else for a personal choice and what extreme sport does require it? none because we all kno contests arnt half the sport there are no rules to riding a bike thats part of the reason its so great

I liked that plan to get ever biker at the skate park for one day. my cousins friend was killed by a driver 6 months ago. the city did nothing and the bikers of Markham Ontario still had no wear to ride. the Markham skate park had amazing riders but we all got kicked out i was arrested a month ago for refusing to leave. but your plan sounds full proof. great video

im sorry to hear about your cusins friend. this is a problem all over the world, citys need to help out and set up a safe place people can ride there bikes without the fear of cars/police/etc. i have had the police called on me many times for riding but have never been arrested. this video was played at the CDA city councle meeting but i think that they denied funding for a park. also they dont have helmets because Idaho doen't have helmet laws (but thats no reason not to wear one kids)
this was the first time i ever tryed to make some type of documenty. and that voice is my feionce (she is alittle shy around the camera). thanks for watching everybody!!

we need to start a new one of these for the freeriders canfeild has nothing but ripped up trails and most of the trails are all up hill and we can not ride up the trails we need a place for dh/fr in cda close to town because most of us can't get rides to beacon and they need to let you all ride there because it was made for the people of cda not just skate boaders

do you think its worth making a petition to make a skatepark in st. jacobs onatario? theres one half an hour away, but theres no safe way to bike there. i think i'll go for it xD

bmx zach: Im sure you could get a safe path or road built to get there. In Hungary, once or twice a year we have 'critical' were all roads are shut off and you can only get around by bike and with 10 or 20thousand bikers out its a pretty impressive sight and it has helped biking safety greatly.

Has to bee a U.s problem not beeing alowed to ride where ever you like. The only time you could get problems with the police, when riding your bike in sweden would be if you wher destroing something. Guess your police havent got better things to do than to chase bike riders... I fell sorry for you, hope you'll get your bikepark!

sherdforlife: if you read a few posts up, i said "they dont have helmets because Idaho doen't have helmet laws (but thats no reason not to wear one kids)"
whenever i go out and ride, i always have my helmet on. theres no excuse not to wear one.....ever. its amazing how many people dont wear helmets....but i promiss you the first time they hit there head, they will change there mind. the friend of mine that was hit by that car in the video, we told him that we would not take him riding with us unless he wears a Fullface helmet....it turned out that it litteraly saved his life. he had a MRI of his brain and there was a little bit of damage on one side....if he didnt have a helmet, he would have been killed.
Just wear your helmets everybody, no matter how dumb it makes you look. its better than getting killed over your own stupidness because you choose not to wear one.

Helmets don't look dumb, many bikers spend hundreds on 'name' helmets. I wear a helmet, but most people dont know to what specification they are tested to. In the UK they are tested to being hit at 10mph from a 1 metre drop, which is crap and wont save you when you get hit by a 1 ton vehicle doing 40mph.Safe riding is far better than any helemt, and getting drivers that CANT drive off the roads is a good idea too, still, its surprising how many bmx'ers dont wear a lid. Nice vid BTW.

in england were pretty lucky skaepark wise because in most parks you can ride without gettin thrown out which is good however the other me and four of my friends got arrested for riding trials not building them riding them which i find so stupid. I liked the way you highlighted the road injuries because nearly all accidents on the roads are the drivers fault. i however always were a helmet when riding my bmx and downhill bike.

i dont know if this has been mentioned but they should really only let them in to the park if they have helmets cause this was supposedly to prevent injury from riding elsewhere but you can do just as much damage without a helmet anywhere you go.
  • + 1
flag stitchjones (Jun 15, 2008 at 13:37)
yeah, its been mentioned.
here it is again: it is Idaho and there is no enforced helmet laws. of cource that is no reason not to wear one, but nobody can force it if there is no law for it.
the point: wear your helmets kids. its stupid not to.

I think that's an amazing video, not only because it's very informational, because it shows how bikers should have a safe place to ride. Somewhere where they can just get away from life sometimes and just hangout and chill with others who ride bikes aswell. Nice editing and pretty sweet riding.

Nice riding, Sorry about your cousin, nice comments, made me think alot. and i think i might send this to my city leader. also i was talking to one of my moms friends and i told her my friend broke 2 of his fingers, his wrist, and his collar bone, at a skate park on his bike and luckily he was wearing a helmet cuz god knows what could have happened. and she just said " that couldn't have been a pedal bike." My point is not many people know how dangerous biking is so you have to show them.

Again im in nova scotia canada and theres a local skate park here but its beside the police station and everytime me n couple my buds go to ride they always come out and kick us off it. We've tried getting donations for a bmx park of some sort but the benefit of getting the chance to speak is comming less and less worried about. BIKERS UNITE! Smile EXCELLENT VIDEO.

people realize that it takes more than ONE sincgle day to raise funds for these types of venues. You don't just go out any given day and buy a ready to ride new bike do you? The expectation to have a bike park immediately is outrageous. It takes time and more moeny than just one day will make. If you have ideas, please don't hesitate to get on board and make a difference. Contact: http://www.nonprofitcongress.org/?q=idaho-coeur-dalene
