Theo Ngubane

Theophillus Ngubane or “Theo” grew up and lives in the Township of Kayamandi in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Theo first fell in love with bicycles and dirt at the Songo.info BMX track that was built in the Township. Last year was his first time racing downhill and having a Downhill bike. In that short time Theo became the first ever black South African to race downhill at a World Championship.

Why don't we have documentaries made about biking that are based on stories like this kid has, where pro riders, biking fans, bike couriers, average Joes, etc, tell what riding bike is for them, what it represents for them, why their love bikes more than their health, with the history of bicycles and biking, with riders from all the disciplines, from downhill, enduro, xc to bmx, cyclo-cross and street racing???
Not like "Strength in numbers" which had only some riding videos edited together in one big movie, without any connection with each other, with little story and almost no emotion transmitted.
I am talking about a documentary somewhere in the lines of "Why we ride" (made by motorcycle fans) which, from my opinion, is the best motorcycle documentary ever made.

I think you're onto something. I hope anthill films is listening. Because, while I love riding, and like watching pros shred, it's stories like these that show the pure passion of the sport. Now they will likely need to still have the pros in the film, with all their sponsorship clothing and gear. But seek out the people out there in the far off corners of the world, or in the local town and have them shred some trails with Wade Simmons, or Stevie. That would be sick.
