flag Eric-Chapman (Aug 22, 2008 at 21:27)
and you dont need a singlespeed chain you could go find a half link chain cuz there alot easier to get the right tension if you dont have horizontal dropouts

flag Eric-Chapman (Aug 22, 2008 at 21:28)
like this guy

flag porkercon (Aug 22, 2008 at 21:28)
that works to, but I would get a normal ss chain then put one half link in it to tighten it up if it needs to be.

flag Eric-Chapman (Aug 22, 2008 at 21:30)
Half links look alot better tho

flag porkercon (Aug 22, 2008 at 21:32)
ya, but I have herd that they stretch a lot.

flag Blk-Mrkt (Sep 28, 2008 at 20:12)
nah they dont, me and my m8's have half links on our MTB's and we use them for every day biking, down hilling and dirt jumping, and we have had thema bout a year and half and they havent stretched a bit. they can take up to 1000 kilo grams of pressure as ive been told the bike and they even recomended one to me and my m8's when we keept snapping on normal chains, so yeah, a half link will be the right way to go for a SS! Smile

do you even need a "chain whip" or could you just hold on to the cassette to get the lock out?
  • + 0
flag porkercon (Nov 7, 2008 at 19:18)
you would need to hold it pretty hard

This may sound like a stupid question and it probably is but how did you remove the 2 bashes/washers that locks the chains together?

yeah but the thing is i have a tensioner on it but i need 2 know if it would work without tha tensioner and a single speed chain?
  • + 2
flag porkercon (May 18, 2009 at 14:03)
nope wont work
  • + 1
flag gbosbiker (Nov 20, 2009 at 20:23)
it all depends on the gear ratio. you may run that "magic ratio" that doesnt need a tensioner.

but most likely you will need one.

flag porkercon (Jun 21, 2009 at 9:01)
Take 2 of them off, but sometimes you have to get a whole new crank.
