lol! nice one niko, i got the maintenance dialed now but im struggling with the amount of GIN needed, any guidance you can offer? after ten mins im laying on the floor, hands all bleeding from screwdriver punctures...lol
very good bro...RideOn!
  • + 2
hahahhahahhahhahha A full bottle of Gin is all you need mate! Any more and you would need a nurse to bring your back to reality! hahhahaha If truth be told, the Gin was Just cold water. I like the glass better for water than plastic bottles and I filter my tap water for drinking water. The Gin bottle had a nice aroma left over which loved! RideOn mate!
  • + 1
hahahahaaa!! same as bro, plastic is a no no, i use a distiller and stainless bottle for water mate, my body only needs h2o not the 'chemicals' which are added for 'safety'. hows that knee of yours now? fully healed? RideOn!
  • + 1
WOW, you distill your own water, Im impressed brother!
I too need only h2o and drink plenty everyday.
I would love to distill my own water, is it a system you can purchase or did you make it yourself?

My knee is doing great. The bone is still tender to the touch and it hurts to kneel down but other than that Im doing good!
Thank you!

You have some cool new videos, I somehow missed them on my Dash!

RideOn mate!

after learning whats in our tap/bottled water i decided the only way to get pure water is how nature does it, distill it, i bought a nice quality one with a post carbon filter, no more inorganic minerals/chemicals..
good news about the knee bro, seems to take forever to fix, little by little..
glad you like the video's, i appreciate all the positive feedback! its great that we can share our biking adventures and inspire each other to RideOn!
take care bro..

 Thank you brother!
I like your video making and those trails were really cool.
The mountain ridge looks like an amazing ride!
I too like sharing our adventures, I have many more non biking videos on youtube.
I have been busy with work and family and recently more videos have been going to youtube but, I hope to finally get some riding in soon. Thank you mate!

Im very interested in distilling water, whats they system you bought called?
  • + 1
 good morning bro!
sooo many trails/ridges to ride but only 24 hours in a day!! i need a couple at least for sleep!!
would you be happy to share your youtube channel name with me? i love what you do, always enjoyable and clear.
ha, on the distilled water subject, most people do as they're told without looking into things, there is a lot of dis-information out there, i would say research EVERYTHING to do with the health of your body (im sure you do),
look into organic minerals verses inorganic minerals, mineral water contains inorganic minerals, un-useable for our bodies! we are organic beings and need organic food...makes you wonder what the food is thats not organic!
this is the distiller i use www.nannabear.com/?gclid=CO6I_aXZ5L0CFefMtAodQjcA0w

always a pleasure talking to you bro..RideOn!!

 Thank you brother!
The distiller looks great and is a good price too.
I wonder if they will ship to Japan.
Im temped to get the alcohol distiller too, ahahhahhaha

Im very into health and like to research what Im into.
I think too many people fall into a current fad and end up believing some outrageous health gimmick.
The distilled water link was very educational, and will continue to research.

Im always wonder what we are really eating.
Processed food is filled with inorganic materials and to your astonishing believe we are consuming food that is close to plastic. hahahhaha

However, too many people just cant get away from modern eating habits.
Over the years I have finally convinced my friend to make their own lunch rather than going to the convenient store for lunch when we ride.

Here is my YouTube account;

www.youtube.com/user/hiroyopoetker

I have all the same biking videos but lots of other family films too!
Please enjoy mate!

RideOn!

hey niko! thanks for link to youtube i will look at them all (saved). if you do get a distiller you will be disgusted with whats left from the 'water' after evaporation! im glad you find it interesting mate, good news for the family. our food is so processed now that it contains very little nutrition, even organically grown food is low as the soil has depleted trace minerals now, supplements are needed for optimum health and LOTS of biking exercise! check out micronized zeolite bro.
if we keep spreading facts to each other it can only get better for us all!!

RideOn!!!

Yes, I was watching the videos on Distiller, they were pulling out huge clumps of lime and other minerals.
Its awful to think about but, I have to get one now!
I drink lots of water everyday, usually 4-6 liters a day.
I also drink lots of coffee and beer, ahhahahha

Here in Japan we are very fortunate.
In our city which is farming country, we get lots of organic fruits and vegetables.
Its a little more expensive to purchase the local organic produce but its worth it knowing it hasn't been its fresh and grown locally. However, I dont know what to say about the soils mineral content. Im very sure there is a mix of farmers who don't fertilize enough but other who do, hahahha

This year, Im growing an array of goodness in our garden.
I have planted watermelon, mini and regular tomatoes, red and green bell peppers, sunny lettuce, parsley, basil, shiso ( japanese mint ), mint, pepper mint, rosemary, and lemon balm. I think thats it but there might be more, hahahah. I still want to plant cucumbers and some strawberries. I also have 2 orange trees, an apple tree, 2 lemon tress and a cherry tree. So, we will have a fun summer with lots of personally grown organic foods. Now, if it were legally acceptable I would like to grow hemp too. Herbs are great for fresh salad and hemp is said to have tons of health benefits. Now, hemp seeds are huge in the US. Its hight in protein and offers lots of nutrition.
In the UK are you allowed to grow hemp?

I have never heard of micronized zeolite I will check it out!

RideO!

 Informative and useful as ever!
Is it worth attaching the floating piston to the negative pressure spring with silicone like you did in the travel adjust video? Or has any problems with leakage been sorted in the RC2?
  • + 1
 Thank you brother!
Im happy to get this one out and finished it up this morning!

Im very sure attaching the floating piston would be a good idea but I have just wanted to keep this as close to standard as possible. If I was having huge problems then yes, I will attach it. As for the system, the Air side chamber is 90% the same as the older models. The only difference is the yellow sponge attached to the top cap which helps make the air volume smaller and allows the fork to ramp up nicely with less oil.

Thank you Hertz!

That was amazing man! Such an educational video! I was pausing everytime you had a text, so I could read it thouroughly, hahahahahaha! RideOn!
  • + 1
Yes, thank you thank you my brother Ricardo! Pushing pause is how it works. Then anyone can read to understand! I wish a great flight tomorrow brother! Be safe and have fun on your new journey!
  • + 1
Man your a legend. Getting me some slick honey not fork oil and will do full service plus adjusting travel from 160 to 180. All thanks to your videos and how detailed they are. Keep it up and of course, ride on!
  • + 1
 Sounds good mate!
Remember you do need just a little about 20ml of fork oil in the air chamber but other than that, all slick honey is perfectly smooth!

Thank you for the kind words.
I wish you good luck with the travel change, send me a Personal Message if you need any help.

Here is a good place to get slick honey;

RideOn mate!

Meant to write and fork oil. Auto correct on phones can really take the biscuit some times. And will do. Thanks for the reply. Ride on mate
  • + 1
hahahhahah All in good fun mate! Good luck with the overhaul! RideOn!
  • + 1
Should be dialled after that much attention! Wish I had a pair of durolux now that I have watched and learned this awesome 'how to'!
  • + 1
Well, this video works for many other forks too. Fox and Marz have a similar system in their air forks and a coil fork like your 40 is all the same with some slight differences. Please give it a whirl!
  • + 1
Sweet.. thanks man. The 40's on the VPPfree are much abused with very little tlc as I have been nervous to open them up. Your words and vids give me confidence.. actually really enjoy servicing my lyriks as I am comfortable with exposing their insides and a snap to work on. Will go into servicing the 40's a little more confident now.. thx man!
  • + 1
Awesome! The 40's are a snap. The Right side the Damper side is exactly like this fork and will pull out all in one unit. Then the Right side will come apart just as this fork did but, you will have a coil spring sitting inside. Easy Peasy! I think the lyrics are maybe a bit more complicated than the disassembly of the 40's! Maybe, ahhahahah
  • + 1
Nice! Will have to get up to my elbows in fork oil soon.
  • + 1
hahahhahah Wait until a sloppy weekend and just take your time. I think its so easy even Mishka could do it! Well, maybe! ahahhahahha Good luck!
  • + 1
Such a nice fork mate, is that honey as smooth as it looks... im might get some.
  • + 1
 Its super smooth!
I hear its hard to find in the UK.
Its great because you can get a tub which is fairly inexpensive compared to other super slick grease.
The only grease I have found similar to slick honey is shimano's hub grease.
But, the hub grease is really expensive compared to slick honey with the same properties.

What do you usually use for suspension grease?

16oz for just 25dollars

  • + 1
Thank you for the link buddy.. Cheers Smile Im going to try and get sme haha
  • + 1
i challenge too... but i cab not understand... and broken...and lost parts... hahahaha
  • + 1
hahahhhahahha Ok now it's time for the trash can! ahhahahha
  • + 1
great one Nico, i wonder how much service does it require to work good and did you try putting oil in lowers? Smile
  • + 1
Thank you mate! To work good it does not need much service, they are butter out of the box. But since the forks are over a year old a service is always good. I usually don't like putting oil in the lowers because the oil settles at the bottom but the slick honey grease has a thicker content and coats the surface much better in my opinion. So, all my fox too I run just grease in the lowers!
  • + 1
interesting, i see your point, might give it a go soon with RSP shock grease Smile
  • + 1
Yes, I try and substitute grease for oil if possible for a faster clean up and service. However, when oil is needed oil works better.
  • + 1
i hope this is the last service i do on my 36, need to push it fast to get Pike that i just found for 550 eur new Smile
  • + 1
Oh the Pike will be a smooth fork for sure!
Whats wrong with the 36?
Is it still too stiff for you?
  • + 1
too much service, 4 times a year to keep it running smooth, with linear spring mod spiking is gone, works great except a small loss of small bump compliance..... always something lol
  • + 1
I hear your complaints, the Pike might bring that all together, RS have a super supple beginning stroke. My argyle is always plush with no issues!
  • + 1
Does step 15 apply to all models of the durolux and do you pour it in the air spring side from the top. Thanks!
  • + 1
Did you add the big elastomer to reduce the air volume? Fork looks solid and easy to work on.
  • + 1
Yes, the new forks come with the elastomer as a Volume Reducer, its works perfect with 20mm of oil.
  • + 2
thanks for the great vid Niko !!!...
  • + 2
Thank you brother! This should keep some people busy for a couple of hours as they tear their forks apart! hahhahah
  • + 1
No gin was harmed in the making of this video.
  • + 2
hahahhahhhahahhaha The Gin stayed as clear as water, ahahhahah
  • + 1
That is a pretty smart move! Smile
  • + 1
I like the glass bottles, they make the water taste better than plastic for sure!
  • + 1
Great vid....I got the Epicons on my 29er, all sweet at the moment.
  • + 1
Cool brother! When it needs an overhaul this is how it goes. Im very sure the process is similar! RideOn!
  • + 1
Yeah bro, I had to take them apart to adjust them from 120-140mm, as there's the rod, with a pin etc...you know? The yellow damper is the same also....so I'm guessing, after a clean up... it's just the spring needing the grease, and the chamber under the damping needing the fresh oil?
  • + 1
Yes, if you have gone that far then you have already given them a full overhaul! Good work. Yes, fresh grease especially on the dust wipers can rally let the fork open up like new again!
  • + 1
great! always looking forward to your maintenance video
  • + 1
Thank you very much brother! Then I should do more, ahhaahahhah RideOn!
  • + 1
 Great, great, great just great!
  • + 1
 Thank you brother!
  • + 1
Slick Honey is a Specialty Grease?
  • + 1
Yes, slick honey is great for suspension. But there are lots of other brands you could substitute with.
  • + 1
really fun how to ! hahahhh
  • + 1
 Thank you brother!
  • + 1
Video to be very helpful !! Nice Niko-san !!
  • + 1
Thank you brother! RideOn Suntour is super wicked!
  • + 1
 First!
  • + 1

First what?

Oh did I spell first wrong? ahhahahhahah oops!
  • + 1
