Three most important things in life.........Family, food and bikesSmile awesome!
I live in a temperate zone. I have never experienced rain at that intensity.
Music had that chillin vibe that soothes the soul.

Thanks brother.. Mishka seems to have his priorities in order. Quite enjoy a torrential down pouring of rain.. glad to be spared the cyclonic winds though.

Glad to see this side of the cyclone. It can be an interesting mix of excitement and anxiety during the storm if my experience with typhoons in Japan are relevant. And, yes, I concur it is important to reflect on what is important to us with some regularity, and having an impending storm helps focus our attention for sure.
  • + 1
Exactly, and to get off as lightly as we did was a huge relief. Pre-cyclone clean ups ensure we never get to shabby.

Glad to hear the impact wasn't too severe. You've got that raddest kids around man. I'm also loving seeing that Blue Pig working out for you. They did a lot of things right with that frame.
  • + 1
Cheers Jan.. Cairns was lucky to avoid damage as the storm hit coast as a category 5 but by the time it reached us had diminished to cat1. Our Northern neighbors not so lucky though. The blue pig fills the void between my dh sled and the Taro nicely.. hope your enjoying some spring trails!

By the way I have high expectations for your WC race coverage. My closest WC stop is on the other side of the country. For Canada that's saying a lot!
  • + 1
Haha! Not sure what to expect from the WC.. Was just going to take the kids.. Grab some souveniers and some photos, enjoy a day out and soak in the atmosphere.. I believe if all goes well the world champs will be held here next year as well. We are hoping for cool and dry conditions!

Nice. Grab some autographs from the big guns for me! Lol. I'm jelly!

 Cheers man, will do'

Beautiful! I love this a lot, Mishka and Jax look alike! Lilly and Ashly are a spitting image of their mom! Im happy to hear the damage was little to none! The kids are stoked on coconut power, its time to RideOn!

Cheers man, yes, lucky to be spared the full impact of the storm! Mishka and Jax do look very similiar, especially now Mish has short hair! Coconut power to the rescue.. had a bunch stored up just in case the storm hit was really bad.. prepare for the worst and hope for the best!

I think the same way, prepare for the worst while keeping things positive!
Seeing your Banana trees and Coconut tress really makes me envious, you're living in paradise.

After you pulled down the Coconut tree's top, will it rejuvenate?

Jax is doing gymnastics now and has always like climbing so, I meant his physical structor looks like Jax.
They both have a cute monkey like face too, hahhhah

I hope the cyclones stay distant for you as the seasons collide.

RideOn!

Unfortunately, that's it for that coconut palm.. As it was starting to lean out over the house it was a liability in a cyclone.. We have 3 more though and produce more than we can consume. Have you heard of Ron Finley? The guy talking at the start.. Check him out at ronfinley.com, awesome what he's doing. Japan is the king of growing veggies in amazing places.. I remember being amazed and impressed by how well people tended to even the smallest plots! You are right about the cute little monkey faces!

Thank you for the link! Ronfinley has a very good attitude and is correct. We need to take advantage of open land and plant some vegetables. Here in Tagawa its the same, we have so much open land or empty lots just sitting week after week year after year. My idea is just plant trees at the least. Then when the land sells, cut them down for their lumber or what other natural resource they will produce. Ron has a very good point and its great to see!

Glad you checked it out.. Most of the developed world is guilty of growing grass and decorative garden when we could be growing food! My plan is to turn all of our grassed area here at home into a food forest! Will take time and dedication!
  • + 1
Yes, lots of time and dedication! But, your profits will be unreal, delicious food for your family. Living in your tropical weather you do, you can grow lots we can't here in Japan. I love Mishka's concepts on love and life. Family, Food and Bike! Priceless! I too have slowly turned my garden into a great environment. When we moved in there was not one plant. I had to dig up around my whole parking lot to make planters which were fresh when you were here. Now I have trees with birds bugs and lovely shade in summer time! My second goal to is to produce lots of natural food for my family to just eat and enjoy. All I need is more time and dedication. However, every year we eat a good harvest. Im stoked to see your Bananas and Coconuts, and an array of what has not made the videos! haahhah Good work Josh!

Thats awesome.. The 4 seasons in Japan help make veggies more hearty and delicious! We struggle with some veggies here but the fruit grows easy.. Grow on!
  • + 1
Thank you brother! Im excited this year, I hope to pull in a strong harvest. Yes, the viggies thrive vigorously here but tropical fruit is not as abundant! I tried growing Bananas about 4-5 years ago to no avail! ahhhahhahahhahha

Too kind brother.. How you like the old Lister generator? Definitely the coolest man-tique in my possession!

You KNOW I was eye-ballin' that! Really cool, and a great runner!!! You have wonderful children also, Mate...
  • + 1
I am glad you all survived the cyclone!
  • + 1
Thanks mate.. Cairns dodged a bullet! The mountains saved our asses by disrupting the storm. I love mountains!
  • + 1
 Tengu saved you! Lol
  • + 1
 I love tengu too!

Lister Deisel!! Beautiful things those.. add a rhythm to life!

Nice spot, man! You know your generators. Was stoked to have scored such a beautiful machine.. Came with the house.. Can't beat hand cranked, old school machinery! Sat idle for 3 years since last cyclone.. Started first pop and ran beautifully for 12 hours.. 7kva's worth of power!
  • + 1
What a score that was! Those are the lifeblood of the houseboats around here.... if you want trouble free generator living, they are the only choice! Loving your lifestyle Josh! Your kids will be rounded and cool for sure! Great job Dad!
  • + 1
Thanks mate! Do you have a houseboat?
  • + 1
If only! No Josh.... I was taken back down memory lane to my hometown of Oxford and the houseboat lifestyle I was happily ensconced in with mates living on narrow boats.. plenty of good times and chances to hone life skills there. It was a toss up to buy a boat from a mate or come to Japan back in '96, and Japan won!
  • + 1
And keeps winning, no doubt! The houseboat life sounds pretty cool though.
