they are actually much better i did a big ride into hot springs south of Nakusp also this winter. You just need to find the appropriate terrain. trails that have been snowshoed on and are packed a little bit are pretty awesome. definitely much faster than hiking. this video i was doing hike a bike on downhill trails that see no traffic all winter therefore they do not get packed in. for me someone who would much rather be biking than skiing or snowboarding all winter i think fat bikes are great. just depends on how commited you are to doing what you like i guess.

 this proves fat bikes are no better than regular bikes in snow..... take your bike for a hike day
