My fork gonna kill me ?

Creaky Totem

I should have provided a story. So, the noise has to be from either the steerer tube to crown, or crown to stanctions. I have removed bars, stem, headset, anything that could be causing it, and even with the fork stripped down to having no lowers on it, it still makes this noise. I inspected the steerer and did not find any cracks, unless there is something scary hidden inside where I can't see.

Yikes, that's pretty loud. Considering it's happening left to right (vs up and down) my guess is that it's headset or steerer related. Sounds like something's broken in half and is being forced to move when you turn the bars, causing it to snap against the other broken half. Does the handlebar bog/skip when it makes the sound? Are the headset cups ok? Do you have a broken spacer maybe? Has the starnut moved out of its original spot, causing the head stack to come loose and make noise? I'd love to play surgeon on your bike right now lol.

Headset? Mine was creaking (not that bad) cleaned and greased it and it went away. Might wanna yank the fork and take a good look at the steer tube and make sure its not knackered.

hopefully that 66 will cease your worries and give you good suspension love

maybe the steertube is separating from the crown? in which case could result in catastrophic failure haha

Yea.... That's my biggest bike fear, not sure if I feel comfortable riding it.

Just talked to RockShox directly... loose stanctions = no warranty and fork is garbage. Awesome....
