SCOA is a FANTASTIC company. I've been riding these guys for years - if you haven't ridden Mt.Wilson in LA, you need to hit up SCOA and check it out. I prefer living on the "darkside" of Mt.Wilson, hitting up Wintercreek and Sturtevant, but in all the trails I've ridden up there it's never been a bad time. Thanks SCOA!

I have always wanted to come here and try this place out along with a shuttle service but haven't pulled the trigger due to the fact that I do not know the area what so ever, and have no idea if its a place where I will end up lost, etc. I just don't have a good understanding of the place and if its a free for all or a actual trail network that is marked out to some degree.

There is a route on Trailforks that is mapped out. Chris drops off at this location, its starts out the Sam Merrill trail and ends up at Sunset and back to the parking lot.

They offer tours with a guide. Call scoa and ask Chris about it.

I've been riding w/ SCOA since the start (back when it was just a meetup.com group), and the services they provide and options for riding are only getting better by the day. SCOA is legit... it's THE shuttle service to take if you're going to be riding the 'Gabes. Chris (the owner) is a super friendly dude, and SCOA offers a ton of weekly ride options... from the daily "Frontside" runs to private group epics, there's always something worth checking out. If you haven't ridden these trails before, hit SCOA up. You'll be in for a big-time treat. And... it's only $15 for a ride to the top!!!

These trails are good enough to have a enduro World Series race on!

Oh boy, what a great idea, shuttle a bunch of fat, lazy, tire-dragging, queefs to thoroughly destroy the handful of great riding trails left in Los Angeles county. I bet the local bikers and hikers just love you guys. All these trails can and should be climbed to the top with great pleasure! Trails in LA are extremely fragile due to the arid sandy soils. Maintaining, let alone building new trails, is unimaginably difficult in the Mount Wilson area. I hear-by once again declare that shuttling is only socially and morally acceptable in places like Downieville, CA, where the climbing is so outrageous no one would even think of it and... the local economy depends on it. Ahhhhgh.... Poor Sam Merrill, god rest in peace. I hope you shuttling bastards all get Poison Ivy on your crotches.

Obviously you have never been to Mt Wilson Seawild66. You sound like an ass.

Yes, I am an ass, sometimes. But, how do you determine that I have "obviously" never ridden Mt. Wilson? Is it my blindly passionate love for these trails and legitimate fear that the shuttling destruction will throughly piss off the neighbors, there-by potentially shutting down the trails to all mountain bikes forever, that gives it away? Just curious.

Please tell me your not shuttling El Prieto.

@ Seawild. You can't shuttle El Preito! That's the dumbest thing I've heard. It's on a closed road. Have you ever riden up to mount Wilson through the trails? No you haven't. The Merrill trails aren't rideable up.

There are more bikers than neighbor hikers on those trails so no one to "piss off".

I personally have been riding those trails since 1995, shuttling since before SCOA. We used to shuttle ourselves. We were glad when they started shuttling trips! So yeah, I don't think they are "shutting down" anything anytime soon.

Sam Merrill ain't complainin... We're all enjoying his trails. I rode it last weekend and compared to the 90's, those trails haven't degraded or changed much. Still Ricky as shit! Hahaha

@ brocket, yup. They are pretty Gnar! They are hard but not flowy. That's the main difference I think to an EWS caliber trail.

@ fasteddie I was joking about Preito! But, I did ride up Wilson on the Mt. Wilson Toll Road to descend on single track. And, we road Sam Merrill all the stinking time with out shuttles. Amazing days of riding. You guys should put in a free-ride trail on Chilao Ridge. Amazing terrain and there was some talk of it about 8 years ago right before I left town, from a guy working with the Angeles Forest Service I think. Good to hear the locals aren't freaking out. Miss those trails, but don't miss the poison oak.

And as for your past quote - "Nice riding, but I wonder why these guys don't ride trail bikes. He's not doing anything that you need a DH bike for in this vid. Am I wrong?" Hope you're riding a CC bike! Cause we rode ALL that stuff on hard tails. Sorry for throwing that in your face.. Couldn't resist.

Now I actually look forward to the Disneyland trips. I can't wait to go back!
