Another sick vid, great flow with the slow-mo!!!
I'll just say 'GOOD VOD', there is no use in other words as others described it well enough... good VOD...
oh ya, cause a footpath really has berms and jumps. It might not be the most technical trail but hes out riding and he made a great video. I doubt any of you guys has had a VOD.
Sick video
Sick video
again, thats why canada is not poducing fast downhillers. all the tracks are flat and smooth with bermed corners. anyone can ride a bike fast down a flat track with bermed corners.
Rong, come to Bromont and you will be surprised how technical the hill is. Never make assumptions regarding riding in a given country when you haven't been to all the resorts the country holds. In the media videos, we see many smooth trails at whistler, but come ride in Quebec and you will see how rocky our tracks are. There are still some gnarly tracks out west, they however, aren't publicised.
ok thats it Nosnibor, U have officially been place on critical watch. U dont have a clue why Canadians aren't on the map yet...truthfully I am not really sure either, but I have a theory. Asl large a country and as many people we have riding Cycling in Canada is still not a top priority, look at our hockey players, we rule the planet, because every on cares about hockey and all the money going into sport goes to sports like hockey. if we had half as much money going to our Dh mountain bike athletes as go to training of hockey players, we be putting riders in the top five at every race. and dont just trash talk Canadians, name me a us Dh rider whos constantly in the top five...I dont know one. havin said all that watch out for Steve Smith...give him a couple more years to perfect his race craft and u will see a canadian sitting at the very top of the standings. and again this is another well made video, u need to be less concerned with the type of trail, and more with the quality of the video. remeber this is VOD, not ROD( rider of the day)
and I already know I needed to do a better job of editing my response...I was a wee bit hot under the collar...wasnt super concerned with grammer
nosnibor...ride Mt. 7 and then post a comment. It's just one of loads of Canadian trails that can loosen a rider's fillings. Bromont is mad. Thought smooth, Rio is a blast to ride too. I'm not sure why Canada doesn't produce more W.C. downhillers, really. My guess is that E.U. has enjoyed a history and passion for cycling more-so than North America, for example. A spin-off from Tour de France interest, I wonder? Who knows? Anyhow, ride in peace, mate.
i know why canadians aren't 'on the map' yet.
and the simple fact is, they're not good enough.
neg prop me all you want, but its true.

next year ill make a video in response too this one showing that canada has tech riding
but in my opinion i like watching a rider flow along rather then the same repeated shots of some a guy going down terrian that looks like hes just doing the same section over and over again...
nosnibor thats a crock of shit, ofcourse evryone loves fast flow trails like aline and thats all you here about, but when u get a chance to go to whsitler youl also see the trails that dotn make the news, and they are super tech and just so you no steve smith has a great shot of taking it home for canada, and ironcily enough canadians seam to kill it hardest on mt 7,in canada one of the hardest runs on the planet. and in north america kids focus more on being pro dirtjumpers and freeriders and slopestyle riders, alot of people in canada dh,but mostly for fun. The canadians that take it serious are up as high as peat, anthetons, and hill. so quit talking nonesence,we made this sport.
slamz your retarded, canadians pioneer the sport, wade simmons, andrew shandro, steve romoniuk, matt hunter, ben boyko, jordie lunn, darren berrecloth, richie shley, brandon semenuk, geoff gulevich and so much more are all canadian
so true freeride started here and then you guys started making your "northshores" and such after. ahah
Guys, although it is little harsh saying candians aren't fast and your riding isn,t tech- i know you have huge mountains and tech trails, the point which i think is trying to be made is that canada aren t producing world cup winners- a wc podium from stevie smith isn t ground breaking when australians, south africans and brits are on the podium every round. You mention investment from the government as being a problem- the thing is few countries have any notable coverage or support when it comes to dh, and they do well. The fact you guys have huge mountains to practice on, awesome bike parks and other facilities should put you at the top, but you aren't so stop arguing and making excuses.....negative props on the way..
Biscuito....I didnt make any mention of government funding I said we wernt getting support. we dont have guys like Steve peat taking young kids under his wing and giving them the support are young guys and girls need to grow and become world cup riders. and again look at those countries u just mentioned, cycling is huge there, a way of life. Bikes are a major part of life for every one, u go to a weekly road race in south africa and hundreds of people show up...in my City at our local Dh races were lucky if 100 people show up, including all age groups and both males and females. I dont understand ur comment about Steve Smith in the least, I suposse ur right though it wont be ground breaking to us either, cause we have all been waiting for it to happen and know its coming. havin said all of that...why dont u come visit us in Canada, bring ur bike, and we'll go ride, MT 7, whistler, sunpeaks, bromont and mont st anne I have no doubt we can find a local ripper in each place who can show u how Canadians ride.

correct me if im wrong, but darren berrecloth is the only rider to ever 3 peat any compition in the world of freeride, since the fast progression of the sport, the odds for a rider to win a comp 3 years in a row wont happen again. I think its ovious canada has the worlds best freeriders, and the uk has the best downhillers, but that doesnt mean we dont have tech trails and good riders.Look at skieing, canada has whsitler yet we get 15th in all the races,we dotn have the funding for racing or the population other countries have. and thats why we dominate freerideing because the field is fare worldwide, and we simply own.

im not sure if you were talking to me or not? but its not like im a pro racer or anything, i ride a 6 inch all mountain bike, far from a racer, so stop putting words in our mouths, video was just a video. not like were promoting a racing scene or anything, get over yourselves
The fact you guys have huge mountains to practice on, awesome bike parks and other facilities should put you at the top
I dunno dude... here in invermere we have Panorama... and it SUCKS... for example the trails r super rough and if u try to rip (or atleast me) you end up clipping your bars on a tree cuz the trails r so tite...
anyway my point is that we dont have sick resorts, facilities and shit everywhere... in Invermere you have to travel quite a way to find a sick place to ride...

No support in Canada for riding? Excuse me? We prob have the best mountains resorts and trails in such a short radius compared to the uk. We should be makin fast riders , but look at the stuff the ppl in the uk think is fun, Steep tech runs, where as here in canada most of the young riders are all worried about gettin the newest bike, and the flashy gear and brag to there friends how fast they are. I know tons of kids who think they are super fast, but when i take them on a tech trail i can beat them by minutes. I personaly love tech trails, but we build nice fast and flowy stuff that gets your skills to a decent level but never exceeds.
Who gives a f*ck! Stop talking trash over the internet. No one in the history of this planet has ever "won" an internet battle. And you aren't about to be the first.
valentine gets where im coming from....tremblay im not trying to talk trash or win anything, just trying to make a point.
ha, i got some abuse! sorry guys. i take back the canada is flat and easy comment.
bromont is amazing and there are many tech tracks. canadians are the pioneers of mountainbiking.
but! all the riders you mentioned are freeriders. exept steve smith, who isnt doing that great.
anyway, i would love to visit whistler. i am currently saving. i am never going to be a world class downhiller so my comments count for nothing. have fun!

Valantine, the fact that ur concerned about a few punk kids claiming shit like we know all youngsters do, is a weak effort or ur part. when I said we dont have support I not talking about all the many many place we have to ride I'm talking about the coaching, the grass roots level support form people tryin to make a difference, the moment u leave whistler and a few of the other major resorts theres nothing for young kids, to help em learn. so next time ur out riding instead of leavin some kids in the dust" beating them by minutes" ride with em show them how to pic a line, how to hold a corner, give em some help maybe they will be fast one day...and maybe u could have played a part in that. support comes from the people in our sport helping each other, not some rich man selling tickets to our favorite play grounds
yes thats exactly what we mean by no support, its like if kids in canada played tons of hockey because the ponds, rivers, lakes, freeze in the praries, but thats it they have no coaches, but the best natural place for hockey, but some other countrie has an indoor facility but it has an association, coaches, other teams etc. well thats not the case here, but for bikeing it is,we have amazing riding spots, but for world class racing we dont have coaches trainers all that.I knoq for a fact the UK takes dh wayyyy more serious,i talked to a couple a few years ago and they told me they got to watch allot of the dh races on tv,but in canada like ryan schenpf said on dropin,it shows families whats going on that would otherwise have no idea extreme mtb was even a sport.
was gonna leave this one, but there are hardly any dh races on tv, the world champs made it when they were at fort bill, other than that nothing. The british public doesn't care about dh much- unfortunately something else plagues their minds- football (or soccer to you)- so no we don t take dh 'wayyyy more seriously'; we might have a more competative race scene tho.
when i look at the crowds in the uk compared to canada i think it would be rediculous to say the uk doesnt take dh way more serious.
i love how most of you have gone 'omg canadians are the best'. when, actually, most of the top riders are British.
Gee, Dan, Rachel Atherton, arguably THE best biking family ever. Steve Peat, in his late 30's and still getting podiums. Josh bryceland and rhudyard (sp?) cunningham, brilliant juniors and are going to be big. Tracy Moseley, marc beaumont, fionn griffiths, brendan fairclough, will longden (to name just a few) are all british.
but, come on lads, i wasn't personally attacking canadians, i hope to go to whistler some time in the near future, so hold nothing against canada, i was just saying it how it seems, thats all.
anyway, merry christmas too you all. no hard feelings lol.

yea we have gone over the fact about 100 times now,uk has the best downhillers canada and usa have best freeriders, its always been that way and it would be unlikely to change.again that doesnt mean there isint good canadian downhillers and oviosuly theres tons of good freeriders from europe etc.
To the guys dissin on rio, calling it a "footpath"
I hope you realize that hunter and his boys (i believe) made that trail, and ride it all the time.... and some of it is pretty mellow yes, but theres a couple sections that are pretty tight/tech, so dont rag on it till you ride it yourself mmkay

its a good vod suicide downhiller, just because he doesnt have bender style and ride a karpiel doesnt mean its a shitty vod, p.s you suck and shouldnt be sponsored by karpiel, and btw. that "540 you do, is just a really carved out 360.
and i dont think matt hunter and shit would build a "footpath" to get filmed for a movie, seeing how this trail was in seasons.
i dont know if you know who "brule" is but he helps run the site just so you know, and what he said is true!

That was extremly well done. This is about my level of riding and this film had very good filming techniques. Just the kind of video i want to make in the summer at whistler. i just need a better camera. huge props to the videographer and rider, well done.
this is as boring as the vod of yesterday, no cool trails, no cool tricks, nothing except of a normal roadgap... what's wrong with u canadians ? there are some realy sick riders, but most of u seem to be pretty bad when i watch the vids on pinkbike nowadays
[Reply]
vid was boring.... canada kicks ass .. racing sucks and thats why we dont dominate it... we drink beer smoke pot and ride bikes deep in the mountains where 15 year old kids with vidio cameras dont have easy acess to knarley trails.. so all the kids of the world on pinker here only get to see the easy trails to get to that r rite in town like rio here... keep up the good work people maybe lees people will visit canada to bike leaving more fresh mossy trails for me..

this is to much like yesterdays VOD, a guy riding down a boring trail. Good videography, but i dont think this is worthy of the legendary VOD crown

the people that dont like these vids are just jealous and all they want to see is backflips and shit like that. they dont care about the epic downhill shots and vids anymore.

nice vid karl! dont listen to the haters, thy dont ride their bikes and have never touched a video camera in their lives haha.
Just give us Canadians a couple of years. We got riders like Drew Mitchell, Steve Smith, Dean Tennent, Kyle Marshall. We will get there.
