So is dirt jumping, 4X, etc.
I just don't understand the thinking that just because some one rides a bike on a ramp or concrete that its automatically a "bmx thing".
Does that mean when a bmxer rides dirt jumps, drops, or ladder ramps it's more of a "MTB thing"? Or is it still BMX? Downhilling, 4x, dirtjumping, etc. all came from BMX. So by the same train of thought when you do any of the above, is it still more of a "BMX thing"?
More and more MTB is adopting ramps, wallrides, etc. Does that make slopestyle a "BMX thing"? Barspins, tailwhips, backflips, frontflips.....in face EVERY trick done on an MTB came directly from BMX.
So why is it that when MTB riders decide to hit the pavement, they are automatically branded "BMX"?
If you shred, you shred!
The obstacles you ride does not define the discipline of the sport. The bike you ride does! If you ride an MTB, it's an MTB. Not a BMX bike and vice verse.

Man, you know what's up ratt bones!
What about trials riders? Does that mean that Danny Macaskill is a bmxer?

I totally respect this riding to the fullest i just kinda think to myself, these dudes are running rigid, 24's, brakeless and call themselves mountain bikers. I mean you see Hauck out there thrashing everybody and he's got sus fork, 26's and a brake, preference? Yes, but it seems to me at least it only goes to some extent until it is too far
ohh yee i remember when everyone was goin down to toronto for this.. this vid has some sick riding, i wish i went last timee
Some mtb tricks came from motocross aswell as bmx. In my opinion MTB is a mix between BMX and Motocross, negitive props i asume?
Yes, there are so many things wrong with that statement, but their all right as well. Guess what BMX stands for? Bicycle Motorcross DURRRRR
Wow, looks like we've come full circle.
I guess when BMXers ride street they shouldn't be calling it BMX anymore.
Since they aren't racing on bicycles, it's hardly Bicycle Motocross.
Therefore, there is no possible way that riding an MTB in the streets could EVER be a "BMX thing".
ROFLMFAO!

Exactly my thoughts, rattbones. Just as MOUNTAIN BICYCLES are not called mtb on the effing street. Only on mountains
ohh lmfao this was a different jam..
dammit i feel like a retard,
i wish u could delete a comment but i replied so u cant.

BMX is a type of racing so when they give MTB shit about Mountains we need to remind them to go back to the race track. The riding in this video is sweet and done on big bikes. If they do it well dont judge them for it because of wheel size
What's wrong with skating? Just cause you ride a bike means you're not allowed to skate? What about snowboarding, wake surfing, surfing, etc.? I do all these things.
Hey everyone ^ Can you give me some names of the bikes theyre riding love to get into that kind of biking? Help?
Black market bikes, Atomlab Bikes, DMR Bikes, Identiti Bikes, NS Bikes, Union Street Bikes, and I'm sure there were a few more.

nice
thanx for uploading it to pinkbike vince! can't wait till next years Thash Bike Jam! greetings from holland
where did you see the RST?? i was there and no one was riding RST. maybe you got confused with the X-fusionn Velvet? (which is a f*cking expensive high end fork), or with Toff's Kowa (some weird Japanese fork)
i like rigids and rsts
im runing rigids right now. but sus is a nice break from painfull landings. both are cool
[Reply]
you mean the fork on the orange bike? that's Adam Hauck, and he's riding a Velvet
there was nobody with a stance or goldlabel
IMO we've come to a point where wheel size just doesnt matter any more. steet is street, trails is trails no matter how big your wheels are!
be nice to see a vid like this with 20,24 an 26 ridin together

WHO CARES WHAT A 20 WOULD DO!!! It's about riding with friends and having fun. Sure its great to show somebody up, but if that's why you ride you're gonna end up riding by yourself cause everyone thinks you're a DOUCHE.
haha i know almost all of them, i went there too
(i'm the guy who got hit in his back wheel in the beginning and who does the first 540 in the banks)
people who through there bike (+have a mullet) can eat a dick. no repect.
i liked the other one of these just as much. they are both sick

Incredible!
I never used to think much of street riding but that video has totaly changed my opinion.
Best video I've seen in a long time, such smooth riding.

what ever happened to freedom... dont get me wrong ppl should be wearing helmets, especially with some of the stuff they where pullin but i mean it is there own health, and they arnt hurting anyone but them selves by choosing not to wear a helmet. let ppl make therre own decision
Alot of young kids get infuenced by the 'cool older guys' not wearing helmets and then dont wear them themselvs so it is irresponsible in a way... but i know what you mean
its not a freedom thing, if mullet master up there squash's his skull tryna 180 a railing five times, someones gotta pay for his vegitated body to stay on life support for five years. Then his delinquent parents, who are on town counsel, would get biking banned fron urban areas because "its a public danger, and the kids are hurting themselves".
its still mullet master fault if he's not wearing a helmet. It was his choice to put one on or not. And just because they dont have a helmet doesnt mean it cant be a VOD.
this video was vod some weeks ago!i saw it many times and its one of my favs!!!and i dont know why is it vod 2 times??
but sure it is really awsome!!!
but sure it is really awsome!!!
the guy with the mullet really wanted to nail that 180. f*ckin hell. if that was me i would probs have stopped on the first attempt, let alone the second one.

[Reply]
yea i understand thats its their decision to ride 24 or 26 or whatever, but that riding is no higher level than the 12 year old shredders riding at my local park. it seems like mountain bikes are excuses for trying less difficult things because the the bike just gets in the way no way around it. if you ride street on a mtb cool your riding a bike, but these tricks are not vod type tricks. look up what bmxers are doing on street and you wont want to watch this video again. dont put another street mtb vod its lame as f@ck
gently remove your tampon and rethink what you said. so your saying that all the 12 year olds at your park are better then pros. god dayum must feel like shit getting put to shame by 12 year olds when you ride there eh?

you care for your bike..for its what allows you to be SICK and express yourself.
you never throw and thrash it around..just cause you didn't make a jump. I would never throw my bike like that....I care for it, clean it..tune it. Its my babe.
You can be the MOST BAD ass rider on this planet and do tricks no one else can...but as soon as you throw that bike...you're TRASH!
nice tricks though...for the rest of them

Yeah, and Black Market picked that guy up right after that event.
Maybe throwing your bike gets you a hook-up!
Maybe throwing your bike gets you a hook-up!
It was announced after that he was placed on the team, and to kn knowledge, it was at that event where the offer was made. My info comes straight from the source, so I'm pretty sure I'm right on this.
I'm sure Matt allready was on the team, because he told me that, Carter told me he just got Matt and Pasha in his team (at the jam), and Matt was allready hooked up with lots of blkmrkt stuff (like the MOB frame, Contraband fork, stem, bars, and some other stuff)
I don't wanna get into a he said/she said deal. I just go by what I was told.
if it's wrong, it's wrong. Whe it comes down to it, I don't have anything to do with that company so the inner politics aren't my business.

I'm gna have to agree with ihrider, if you don't have shocks and ur riding a 26 why don't u just bmx.
BMX bikes and mountain bikes are two different things all together. On being wheel size, two being bike geometry, and the third being weight. I used to ride BMX bikes, go check my profile for some video. Sorry, but you can't downhill, 4X, and commute on a BMX bike. Ever try riding a few miles on a tiny little bike? your neck and back start to ache, the gearing and wheels are so small that you have to put in twice the energy and effort to go the same distance. Saying something like "why don't you just go ride a BMX bike" is just pretty ignorant. It's a loaded question. And I'm sorry, but rigid forks have been a part of MTB since it started. When suspension was becoming more and more a part of MTB, we all thought it wasn't going to last. Now you have people who think that if you do not have it, then it's not a MTB. Funny, how considering that most BMX bikes had suspension in the beginning. Then again through the early to mid 90's. Even full suspension. I still own one CLICK HERE. Point being that a mountain bike is still a mountain bike. Regardless of how you set it up or where you ride it. Same with BMX. Otherwise, when you ride a BMX bike on the street, it's no longer BMX because you are not racing it. Bicycle motocross is racing, not grinding rails. Same goes for MTB. Being an elitist does not help push the sport forward. Just holds it back.
I dh, dj, and bmx, I just think when you have a 26 bike with no suspension theres no point in having that, just get a real dj or just ride a bmx. Theres no need to call people ignorant when its there own opinion.
Well the word "ignorant" means lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact. In which case the word is describing a fact, and not being derogatory. When you classify one discipline of a sport as another, knowing full well they are not the same. You end up having an opinion that is based on ignorance. You know what the sport is, but you "choose" to see it for what it is not.
What other word would you like me to use? Does obtuse sound better?
What other word would you like me to use? Does obtuse sound better?
Why is always the downhillers that hate on everything else? You guys are always such elitists, and call out every other aspect of the sport as "That's not MTB". Generally, it's down hill guys with little or no talent who think the only thing that matters is how fast you are, or how many points you pick up. You forget about, and "ignore" the entire reason why you started riding a bike in the first place. Because it's fun! It's riders like this (you) that tear down the sport instead of support it.
Have you ever thought about how retarded it would be to keep an 8lb fork on your bike when you don't need one? If I'm going to be jumping off of 20' cliffs, I'll ride a 120+mm fork. If I'm running general downhill then 80mm will work just fine. If you are going to be riding flat ground and surfaces, why would you need any at all? It takes a true ignorant moron to bang on people for how they set up their bike when they ride a $2,000.00 plus bike, but ride no better than a ten year old on a $40.00 Huffy.

I can ride a huffy and still smoke ur ass, u don't now what dh is, and if you actually ride some true technical terrian you do need a little travel to help you, that is if your carrying speed. If you ride 80mm of travel you could try your just gona crawl through it like a pregnant school teacher. I don't hate on every one else, I bmx, I dj, and I dh. I have an I pod. I don't get ur arguement here, I just don't understand why anyone would want to ride a 26 with no travel, unless ur road biking. Mabye you could explain rather then accusing me of "hating," on everyone when I do almost every discipline. And were did you get not having fun part, your arguement is going no where, ur just making things up now. If I wasn't having fun I wouldn't be riding.
Nah, I don't think so. I'm sure I've been around a lot longer than you, but hey...you're 88 years old so I'm sure you have experience. I do in fact like the fact that you back up my claim about you and the racing thing. Fist thing you say...you can smoke me! Doubtful, but still proves my point on elitism. Thank you for that. This started because you were hating. Not sure what having an Ipod has to do with anything, prolly just compensating because you really have a Zune. It's already been explained to you a few times now why some one would run a rigid fork. See, this is why you are ignorant. You are "ignoring" the facts. You know why, you've been told why, and here you sit saying you have no clue. My suggestion to you is to stop knocking up your school teachers, and learn something. I haven't accused you of anything. It's right up there in black and white for the world to see and read. It's fact, backed up by physical evidence that you were in fact "hating". Now, if you do in fact ride every discipline, then you would know exactly why some riders prefer a rigid fork. Further backing up the claim of your ignorance. Lastly, the simple fact that the first thing you say is something about "smoking" me clearly demonstrates that you care more about being better than some one else rather than having fun on a bike. You are right about one thing. My argument is in fact going nowhere. That's simply because I'm not arguing. Just pointing out the obvious that apparently you have a hard time grasping. Get the stick out of your ass and just let people ride what they want to ride. If they shred, they shred. Get over it.
dhbiker12 you are a dumbass! you should stop talking because the further you go on the you make yourself look retarded!
He wants to smoke your ass! Ahahahaha, I bet he wants to smoke your pole too!
He wants to smoke your ass! Ahahahaha, I bet he wants to smoke your pole too!
It is a "normal" bike. Why don't you tell us all what a "normal" bike is. I'm sure we'd all like to know. Seriously. What is your definition of a "normal" bike. Is it a ten speed, fixed, bmx, hardtail, full suspension, recumbent, trike, big wheel, side hack, hybrid, comfort, cruiser, beach cruiser, or just what you think is normal? Let's all get an opinion from an elitist point of view. I'm sure no one can ever get enough of that.
And streetdude ROFLMFAO!
And streetdude ROFLMFAO!
Ahahaha, oh man! dhbiker, I just want to thank you for the endless entertainment you are providing me. You've completely lost on here, and you have taken it to my profile. What is it with you and the gay thing anyway? Are you compensating for you're own homosexuality that your in the closet about? Is that why you're so angry about it?
No worries man, we won't judge.
I don't think I want to know what anal beads are. Best keep that secret in the gay community (your pocket) where it belongs.

Hey dhbiker12.....
Come to Interbiike. Neutral grounds chump. I'll race you, and smoke you. You can say all this queer crap to both of our faces. It takes nothing but a dickless pussy to sit behind a keyboard and talk shit. Put your money where your mouth is. Send me a PM, and I'll tell you what booth I will be in, and on what days and times.
Your insults suck, you're not even the least bit funny, witty, or intelligent. You need to shut your mouth because all you are doing is making yourself look more like an idiot. Just quit, walk away with what little dignity you have left. Or show up, and put up!

I just read this whole thing. FUNNIEST SHIT EVER!!!!!! I love watching kids who think they are so smart get run down like the sorry sacks of shit they really are! Rattbones is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, and one of the coolest motherf*ckers to ride with. I'm pretty sure he's been riding a lot longer than dhbiker has even been alive. It's so obvious that this guy has no f*cking clue about biking other than what he rides, and it sounds like he doesn't know much about that either. Oh, and he's gayer than a $3.00 bill!
yeah. dhbiker12 never figured that some people who ride street on a rigid 26" are too big for bmx or like the bigger size, but still like the rigid feel of bmx. i had a true dj bike a while back, and was going to throw a rigid on it just for the ease of everything.
dhbiker is a dumbass that thinks hes hot shit when he could get smoked by a baby that hasnt even been born yet.

how are people who ride hardtails "pussys" the do all the same things as "bmxers" is it because you sometimes hurt ur wrists or somthing?cause i think its just being smart to have an extra bit of suspension on a bike.howsa that being a pussy?
Still an idiot. I rode BMX for 20 years. Some of the funnest times of my life.I hardly see it as pussy doing a handrail on a MTB with no pegs.
You should go play in traffic blindfolded.
You should go play in traffic blindfolded.
larger frame = harder to whip around.
lets see bmx pros try to rip a dj bike like these guys do. it takes skill to do this stuff on a dj bike. i know too. i rode dj and bmx. bmx is almost too easy to whip around, so in bmx the pros have to go even bigger to compensate for the ease of it, compared to a dj bike.
just cause bmx pros can whip kid bikes around so easily, doesnt mean that dj riders are pussies because they cant do a triple tailwhip.
end discussion.

Wow. loved it. its been far too long since ive seen awesome park/street from mtb. awesome vid all around!
blkmrkt mob (adam hauck, carter holland, matt jamieson), dobermann pinscher (the whole dobermann team), duncon concrete, usb bikes molly(?)

hardtails dont do all the same things as bmxers. only the best hardtail riders can do stuff thats actually considered difficult on a bmx. that pro hardtail video would only be an amateur bmx vid
that is because bmx is easier to whip. dj bikes are harder to ride, because they are heavier (usually) and bigger.
have you ever tried to 360 a dj bike on flat, and then do it on a bmx? its a hell of a lot harder. so shut up and go try to blow yourself in a corner.

wow people get offended if you criticize the overall skill level associated with the bikes they ride. To all the hardtail riders defending the tricks in this video as difficult, or even comparable to what people do on bmx, YOU SOUND LIKE FIXIE RIDERS DEFENDING FIXIE TRICKS. stop using your bike as a crutch and do one of three things:
1 admit hardtail tricks are not on par with bmx and probably won't ever be
2 ride things so big that bmx bikes can't hang with you (thats what hardtails are for)
3 ride a bmx
1 admit hardtail tricks are not on par with bmx and probably won't ever be

BMXs were made for race tracks dick, get a life. You attempt any of these tricks on a big bike and see how much more difficult it is compared to your small wheeled things
i respect people who ride hardtails and are able to throw tricks on terrain that a bmx isn't meant to handle.
wow people like dhslug sounds like another gay little 13 year old boy pretending to be cool on the internet because in real life he get's beaten up every day at school. Stop using the internet like a crutch and do one of three things:
1 jump fore a train
2 drown yourself in the water
3 get f*cked by a horse so hard you'll die on anal bleedings
1 jump fore a train
2 drown yourself in the water
3 get f*cked by a horse so hard you'll die on anal bleedings
i hold these opinions on the internet and in real life. Big wheel bikes are starting to impress me more and more, but as i said, only when they are ridden on terrain unsuitable for a BMX bike. NWD 10 showed the real progression of 26's, as they were riding mountain trails and huge jumps that require suspension.
if you wanna sound cool and get a point across, don't use the same format as me and change the words. it shows how unintelligent you are and how little you really have to say. if you wanna have a grown up conversation about the topic, let me know instead of calling me a homosexual, a student, and a farmer. i am none of those things.
