I spoke to Sam, he said he wanted to put this down, he built the drop, set it up, had a few tries and this is what came out.
He thinks it might be an MTB first as well.

at the begining i thought he was going off it normal and then he did the frontflip and i was like WTF
kisse from norway was actually the first one to land this trick. This looks more like a tiretap to frontflip.

Arguably kisse's frontflip is more dailed as well; he doesnt do that ugly tiretap, and he doesnt put a foot down

To be fair Sam didnt put his foot down on landing, as its sand - the bike got stuck so he had to pull it forward. Or at least thats what it looks like
Also, didn't Ben De Roni, here on pinkbike, also land a frontflip, on a DH bike with shivers as well. I know he tried lots of them, I'm sure one was sucessful.

Ben De Roni frontflip, I think I remember seeing him land one as well, back in 07, 08. This was definitely not the first in any case, and Kisse's flip deserves VOD way more. This is still insanely sick, and I like that little tiretap

people have been doing this for years, im fairly sure a trials rider did them in one of the down videos.
First of all, he didn't nail it, he put his feet down. And second, It has already been done both on mtb and bmx. And last, Pilgrim has no style what so ever.
yea he has lots of style, but i cant see this trick being done at any competitions like crankworxs or anything, especially with the tiretap..

kisse's frontflip doesn't look like a flat drop it looks slanted up-wards a bit, but I still admitt it's true, oh well Sam, nice any way!!
This is tiretap FLAT drop frontflip on MTB ever ! If you think its not that good , why don't you just doing a better one ?! Do not be too arrogant ,Modesty makes you progress.

The version you posted was filmed on Sam's little handycam camera, my camera is a little better lol.

Pistone Pampanelli from Italy tryed frontflip of a drop that was twice that big and had a hard landing, but never cleared it cleanely..it's quite sick in any case..

I'd rather see a Bubba scrub mid course or a styled out whip. Acrobatic, yes. But robotic too, not smooth.
