i feel like a dick saying this but
1.) your riding fire roads
2.) shut the f*ck up, pro's don't even talk that much in vids
3.) I wanna be the best.... again shut the f*ck up, or put up.
4.) those trails were hiking trail hard at best and you were grabbing brakes.
5.) the cam hilts video was better than this.
6.) something about this vid made me angry, you suck.

good filming nd thats about it
i think this guy seems really cocky nd isnt that great a rider, doesnt seem that smooth and what is up with that whip at the start being slowed down?! its horrible.

This kid is a goon! He's not fast, has terrible form, and looks like a clown. Kids like this get sponsored because they are rich and mommy and daddy can take them to as many races as they want and they just simply get exposer.
Half the kids on this site could own this kid. A professional video like this is for professional riders. And that fake interview is rediculous.

i hate how this kid sucks but he has the money and time to ride and his mommy and daddy take him places and shit, also he has a f*cking nice ass bike. i hate how the kids who are realy good at biking and could go some were with it are watching this vid thinking how much fun it would be to have a nice bike like that and to ride at these kinda places becuase they dont have the money and time or support to ride nor even to race.
sweet video but the talking was terrible. Their is ALOT of fast kids everywhere that have those same goals, but are alot faster.
note: this kid qualied 169 in austria.. some 30 seconds back of a quali spot. So you be the judge of his speed

another joey schusler, the kid rides world cup for yeti and didn't qualify for ANY RACES!! and then he says oh the track conditions weren't in my favor.
I mean, what, the encoding quality was pretty good, but the shots were the same old half-tracking half-OH LOOK IT'S HD VIDEO LETS PHOTOGRAPH THE LEAVES RUFFLING COS THE COLLECTIVE DID IT.
Honestly the kid doesn't look all that fast. Now I'm not pretending I'm faster, but then again I'm not pretending to be the hardcore racer that he is.

great filming/editing, but the rider is sooo cocky, " i want it soo bad" basically shut the f**k up, you stuck up prick.... how are you sponsored by giant ???? im not saying im quicker, but then again i dont go around being all up my own arse to the world of mountain biking.... and you are never going to get to the top, never... fool.
Well, the video gives a general good impression, it's not boring, good sequence change timing, good music matching. However, there is too much talk. The riding level is not equivalent to the amount of fancy talk. I can see Josh Bryceland, Danny Hart or JD Swanguen saying all these things, but they show much better speed, technique, fineness and creativity in their riding. I know in the era of reality shows it's tempting to do that but... guy talks like he just came in the first 3 on World Champs...
Sick video, awesome vidography but dude that kid is soooo up his own arse and he hasn't got the skills to back it up, biking is for fun, he is taking himself well to serious, PWN
I'm glad i'm not the only one who watched this video and thought it looked slow.. look i'm sure you have lots of skill and do well at races but if your going to make a vid and say all that stuff ride a trail that captures speed well. you came off as arrogant, maybe your just dedicated and really do want to do the best you can if that's true then great go for it, a lot can be said for hard work, but for future reference you came off as arrogant. also ditch the gear i don't know about you all but unless it's a vid of a race i think ripping it up in jeans and a tee shirt looks a hell of a lot cooler =)keep on working hard
Í dig the cinematography, but the talking is too much, especially if you look at his riding skills, which can't keep up with his talking skills. O.K. I have to admit, that I don't like "talking"-sequences in bike videos anyway.
video quality is good and he's a decent rider but honestly i see kids his age shred way harder than that. he really didn't seem that fast to me(considering his sponsors)
anyways congrats on the vod
anyways congrats on the vod
Video is ok, with good footage but he's got a big ego for such a young gun. Ok maybe he's won a few races in the under 18 category or whatever, but that's not hard when you've got a few years on younger riders who haven't started to develop.
Also needs to sort his style out looks like a geek

This kid is really sponsored? i was ridin like that when i was 9. i love the pajama suit. you got to be a real bad ass the wear that stuff. not impressed at all. i should try to go pro at 27 if this is the competetion
Its very nicely done. The shots are on the awesome side of things, but people may/will be put off by the "attitude" of the kid.
He should just relax and don't worry too much about "progressing the sport", just enjoy what he is doing (which I think he does), heck he's just 17! Trust me, the more overly serious you become it becomes a detriment to your riding.

EVERYONE
He is not sponsored because he is fast. He has done well at a few races, but the fact is that he goes to a lot of races. And thats what sponsors look for in a young kid. They want exposure of their product. There are loads of people faster then him, they just aren't getting out there.

I find the video to be of professional quality. I find the rider's skill to be up and coming just look at the results on the UCI website, however this boys attitude is over the top! Cool your jets dude! You got 19th at a national junior event. My hats of to you but you're following legends, myths and gods of DH so, pipe down and look and listen to the boys on top because you may learn something about humility!
For those of you who have way too much angst and such things or if your just interested in his placing check out this link : http://www.uci.ch/templates/BUILTIN-NOFRAMES/Template3/layout.asp?MenuId=MTUyMTM&LangId=1

I am appalled at the level of hatred and smack talk in such a fine discipline such as ours. Long live DH and down with all the crap and wasted electricity consumed in trying to dominate this little boy!

I have heard that song in bike, snowboard, and wakeboard reels now, a bit over cooked... and that trail looks like a glorified Fire Road. I am curious to see how he does in Austria, and what was with the whip at the top of that trail? was he trying to slow down or just prove he can kick out his bike?
That being said, Good luck Alex.. Train hard, Sack up, and follow your dreams.

^^Thanks for the clarification. Still, the kid came off as a bit prideful which generally doesn't produce a friendly reaction from people. It seems he's elevating getting good (World Cup level) and that's great. Go for your dreams, but don't let them be you God. It'll only end in disappointment my friend.
I field produced this as well and asked the questions during the sit down interview. Getting those prideful sound bites out of him was not easy. I say go for it and don't worry about what people say.
Thanks for all the comments. But a bit surprised at the negativity on Pinkbike.
My name is Tom, I work in television and film and I ride an Ironhorse Sunday on my days off. I shot and edited this video for Alex and his sponsors. Alex is an very passionate and hard working kid and a friend of mine. I met him at Attitash while riding there two years ago and at that time, he was just another young rider. He was no faster than the other 15 year old kids.
Since that time he has worked hard, trained on his bike and ranked very well in races. As he got older and stronger, he became a very fast rider...and dedicated. I am sure Giant and Michelin recognized this right away. I assure you, he is not cocky or arrogant. He did not come to me to have a video promo shot for him. I went to him. I asked Alex if I could shoot a short MTB film to promote the mountain, the sport and to get his name out there.
Good luck Alex. Work hard, have fun and follow your passion.

I'm not negative about this video at all. I think it's great. The only problem I had with it is I think his trail needs to be a little more steeper.
He seemed like a great rider who was persistant. For a 17 year old, he's doing very well. All I have is a shop sponsor and I'm 15.
Good luck to him in the future

ha ha ha yeah right dude your terrible. You aren't even close to being on top.You sound just like the guy from the tipping point movie and he isnt even on top you SUCK that is just the way it is. Dont give me the crap that just because you want it so badly your just gonna get it.Your not that fast there are so sosososo many riders out there that will own you any day of the week. The only thing your good for is going to all the races but you make giant look like shit because you will get last place every time.
Man o man u guys...he is skilled, ur just ripping on him because he's sponsored and u expect him to be as fast as Hill or Peat. Fact is, Giant probably picked him because he's driven and dedicated, he gets out and competes on his Glory and commitment and product endorcement is what these companies are looking for when they sponsor u.
I don't think this kid realizes that there are a ton of juniors everywhere, especially the U.K and Europe, that are a lot faster than him already, and "progressing" a lot faster as well.
It is good that he is optimistic about his goals, but they are a bit lofty...........
He is going to have to work incredibly hard if he wants to do well even against the U.S dudes, let alone taking on the world. Wanting something really bad doesn't mean you get it.

Dude, I wasn't a 10th that focused when I was his age. Not just at riding, but anything. I think it's cool to hear the interviews and see how determined this young man is. Props.
Nice job on the video, awesome trail, Glory is a wicked bike. I found the film to be inspirational. Way too many negative comments on here. If you can't do better with the riding or filming keep your negative comments to yourself guys, sounds like the green monster to me (envy, not Sam Hills bike!) To all of the critics out there: WHERE IS YOUR VOD? Yep, that's what I thought.
Nicely said Gary, people are so quick to send their negative comments yet where's their VOD? oh that's right, it wasn't chosen. Come on guys, you sound like poor losers. Good job on the video, keep having fun!
If I had a Professional cameraman following my riding around for a couple of days and then edited it for me. I'm sure I could have a VOD too.
This video has actually inspired me a bit, just ordered myself a HD camcorder. My VOD will be on Pinkbike within a few months

HAHA
HAHA
Nice vid! Who knows if you'll be the best but you have good taste in music, STG all the way! Best of luck to you in your racing
hmmm lightly dissapointed, i was expecting some MEGA pinner but he is your average joe tbh. And how is he sponsered? nice vid though
he looked legit in the slow-mo clips, but like Dave Chapelle Once Said... "everything looks better in slow-mo."
no wonder hes so fast he probably weighs 90 pounds lol...jk good job on the riding ***rip or get ripped***
[Reply]
my drive-way is steeper than this wtf
and my Lil bro goes to bed dressed like that
lol he does look kinda geeky

Awesome video Tom. Good taking a few runs with you this year at Attitash, I had the furhawk on my helmet. Alex is a great rider that has progressed a ton in the past few years. Keep up the good work guys.
attitash has some of the toughest riding in new england although my memory might be warped becuase one of attitash's black diamond trails was my first ever downhill experience so everything might of felt bigger than it was....
do you actually have a dolly or are all those pushes just slight zooms? it worked good. I like the effect. if it is just zooming. Some of those had to be real dolly shots tho. tell me more.
the dolly was only used in the beginning of vid. the rest of the shots, i used the motion tab in final cut to push or pull 5-8 percent on the locked down canon 5dmk2 fisheye footage.
nice Idea; I always thought it would not look that good, but your mk2 is very clean and you can do that for sure, I just used up all my space in my comp I shoot 1.5 gigs this month. how do you take care of your space; did you ever resort to dumping on to dvds, or do you just buy external drives/ I use a mac pro duel monitor with a d 90 and a sony 500 I also use 2 hpx 170's with M2 systems and nikon primes/ really nice set up, how do you like the letus over the m2 or bre. ?? did you ever get to try them all ? ?
i use the sony pdw-u1 professional drive and xdcam disks to archive all my footage. i use to just use cheap $100 1 tb bare oem hard drives and hot swap them to store data using a SATA usb2 cradle. or external usb2 drives from best buy.
how did you find the canon 5dmk2? looking to get one for the amazing photos but the video is a pretty mint idea it work well? cheers
sick vid
sick vid
it must be hard to bike when you are THAT far up your own arse, not even the pro's have that kind of arrogance, i hope he reads all the comments and gets brought back to earth
mk2 , super shallow depth of field right ? gotta be careful with that stuff , nice flow tho , watch that shutter !
the rider was shit, the graphics/camera man was pretty danm good and the cockey c*nty rider should get his f*ckin act together and stop being such a twat!!!!
Damn this kid sucks ass, how the hell is he sponsered? My grandma could ride a glory better than that.
no .. you must have some pretty superior grandma :/ all these people sayin he shit ? id like to pitch you against him. im sure giant dont just sponsor anyone.
i think it was a waste of time to make this video. i cant beleave he is sponsored he can ride the trails but he looks super gaperish while doing it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved the shot around 4:03 and around 418 to 423. definalty the best parts of the video. the rest is decent, but i think this deserves to be vod not for the riding, but because its inspirering
why is he a nerd? Is it because he spends his time constructively messing around with bikes instead of beating up old ladies and selling dope outside of 7-11? Good thing we're not all clones huh, perhaps you could be a little more open-minded rather than critical. Have a great day.
hes a nerd because hes just over 90 lbs, and his glasses are twice the size of his face, and hes not really shredding for a sponsored rider, and he has a bike i wish i had but i cant get everything i want cause im not rich. so chill the f*ck out gay63, and stop backing up someone you dont know. and if you ever need some dope ill be sitting outside that 7-11 selling 2 4 5's
[Reply]
As always tom great job, wish we could have done the redtail film, but next summer: you got my vote for VOD
Sh!t americans have it easy to get sponsored in australia its the biggest battle to even get noticed by a small bike shop sponsor.
looks sooo gay whith all of his matching blue pants and jersy and no gloves but a neck brace..???? whats whith that
I read somebody say being at the top is impossible and to just ride for fun. That one less person to ride faster than.

Why don't you all stop trash talking! Its getting old. (Awesome video btw, Attitash ROCK! Whats up New England mountain bikers!?!
[Reply]
He looks really bow legged when riding those trails haha, wasn't my favourite video, too much going on. Sick cinematography though!
Pretty much Luke Strobels interview from F1RST. But the guy is in Austria right now and not me. Props.
have to say, im only mildly impressed with that kid, hes ssslllllloooow! (for an attempted pro that is) good vid though.
He has to be remotely good to be riding for GIANT and Michelin tires. I mean these are pretty big names.
yeah I hate everyone who isn't me too. even my mom. mostly because she rides slow wearing a TLD kit.
tear it up kid. Let the internet bad a$$es blog about how awesome they are..keep representing 603... I hope I see you smoking Sam Hill someday.

i shot on a sony ex1 with a letus ultimate and nikon prime lenses. also used custom helmet mount and a canon 5dmk2 with a 16mm f2.8 nikon fisheye. used a bogen magic arm clammped to trees with the canon 5dmk2 for locked down shots. i built the dolly, simply pvc pike/skate wheels. edited on final cut pro.
yea, he is good in all but lets put him on the canadian open in whistler and see how well he does.... sure he's kinda fast, but on the trail which he trains on, anyone who rides a trail enough will learn the best lines and know that fastest route is.
sort your life out you massive jeb ,why the hell are you on a full sus dh bike? get a FIXIE!also overused song and bad riding plus bad quality camera and bad editing.
What a deuce. He's never going to be good enough to compete at the top level. He should ride for the fun of it and not take himself so seriously!
a fixie^^ they r bloody scary as far as im concerned... neways the vids not too bad, but he could do with a steeper trail near him 2 train on!
fooox, you say that but do a little research

since when did riding your bike get so serious? its cool your fast and all man, but be in it for having fun, your going to find out the hard way that being on top is virtually impossible
I DO agree that people should just ride for fun but this guy wants to race. He wants to compete and be "on top" so that takes a lot more than just riding for fun. That's why I ride street... I have absolutely no interest in competing or being better than anyone. I dont care about flowing or doing big tricks so I don't ride DJs or parks. Street gives u that freedom to do w/e u want wherever u want. It doesn't matter how fast u are or how big u can go... its just about doing ur own thing and having ur own style. I love it!
sick video but i agree that there is a lot more work to be done. but u look like a good rider so more power to ya and good luck.. kinda creapy though i look exactly like him hahaha
this guy seems pretty fast...but wait, there seem to be a lot of helmet cam shots from behind. i dont think we would be seeing those shots if he was actually fast
i like it, good shots, editing camera work, but that guy seems really arrogant to me, and not that fast...
So you guys see him in one video and you can tell he doesn't have what it takes to be a DH racer? Give me a break. If you don't like the video, don't watch it, no sense in being negative.
he's almost as fast as Dexter Robson but its hard to say maybe hes faster!!!
love the video
amazing riding.
stoked to see a decent VOD

stoked to see a decent VOD
This dude is not sponsored by giant and michilen. look at him, he is slow as mollasses in january. he just made that shit up about soponsors. hes pretending to be like a cross between justin leov and sam hill. almost all of the words this dude said were pretty much exactly what the guys said on The Tipping Point. he is just a poser that has the same body shape as malnourished kids from south africa and pretends he can ride a bike. learn to ride before talking smack you f*g. peace
put on 50 pounds, get a haircut, chill out, ride some decent trails, and stop being so damn cocky. The video was extremely well made and the quality is mind blowing. Great job. But the rider kills it.
wow peeps.. there's a lot of hating going on here... remember, he is riding a pretty flat course that looks to be a lot about pedalling in the vid, and if hes on a full sus dh bike, i doubt hes going to be rocketing if hes having to do most of the work
and neways ur all just jealous cos hes sponsored and ur not... Giant dont just sponsor people for fun and I think they have the right to chose the people they sponsor for themselves....
all u people that say hes not sponsored your just f*cking pissed that he is and u cant be and ur pissed that he better and faster than u
yeah everyone chill. ive actually ridden with him and he is a lot faster thank what this vid shows. he does well in comps, has sponsors, is very fast, and remember HE'S STILL ONLY 17. chill out and take it from someone with first hand experience. this video makes him look worse than he is in real life. i assure you that
[Reply]
i would say he is off the pace of 17 year old riders in this country let alone all over the world but good for him 2 keep trying tho! nice 1

i mean he's at least quicker than most riders, but the filming/editing probably adds a lot of exaggerated differentiation in his approach, style, and speed.
ya,I think the fimling style ruined it for him to pull it off i think he would have to be a hell of alot faster
Nice! The kid has potential, I hope he makes it!!!!
Good luck man, and nevermind the jealous losers in here.
