The big discussion - 26"" or 650B in downhill sports
There are a lot of discussions and speculations going on but hardly anybody has ever conducted any well-founded tests about it. Therefore we would like to take an in-depth look at our test results regarding these two wheel sizes.
In order to answer the controversial issues about 26"" and 650B wheels we constructed two prototypes of the SOLID Strike.

With the exception of the wheel sizes the prototypes of the Solid Strike were constructed in exactly the same way so that it would be possible to make a direct comparison whilst having the possibility to adjust all the important chassis and geometry options. The reason for this is obvious as it is important to be able to adjust bottom bracket height, chain stays and geometry in general to obtain good test results.

Consequently, it is not enough to just change the wheel size - that would simply be wrong!

Together with our team riders we tested and compared the characteristics of 26"" and 650B wheels with a view to acceleration, running smoothness, behaviour in extreme conditions, general handling, driving fun, track sections in various terrain and entire races, with time recording, of course.

For it is a fact that: 650B is the future and the further development of downhill sports

The test results prove that without a shadow of a doubt. It does, however, not mean 26"" wheels will disappear in the future. But it has to be clearly stated that 650B will become the new standard wheel size in downhill sports. Not because it is "trendy" at the moment and because a 650B downhill bike is part of our product range but because the test results simply are convincing. The main advantage is not only the fact that with 650B wheels you are clearly faster but each rider, whether professional or non-professional, will be delighted by the postive characterstics of the significantly reduced effort and the additional safety reserves. Because of these positive characteristics the Solid Strike standard bike was specifically constructed with a view to the 650B as the maximum performance and power transfer is delivered fully in the 650B version. Due to the high market share of 26"" products and users each Solid Strike can optionally also be fitted with 26"" wheels. Every bike furnishes the options to adjust the geometry to 26"" wheels. Roll-out of the SOLID Strike is mid-April 2014. (test drives - see test days / home) Based on our long-term experience in this sports section we think we can rightly claim that we are a successful pioneer in 650B downhill sports. Technology
The Center Force Suspension CFS) is one of the key features of our modern chassis technology.
This unique suspension system transmits the bearing forces evenly to the main chassis so that we are in a position to create a chassis which is lighter than most of the products of the competition.
Simultaneously, the braking influences are mostly absorbed by the suspension as our linkage mechanism alleviates the braking torque.
The suspension characteristics, which we aimed at on purpose, are sensitive and effective due to a slight progression to over 90% of the spring travel (0 - 190mm). They do, however, become progressive in the last millimeters (190 - 204mm) so that it is practically impossible to destroy the mechanism.
Therefore, in extreme conditions, these chassis characteristics guarantee optimal traction and directional stability while at the same time protecting the rider and the material.
