My wife fell in love with this frame, rode it some, then we went ahead and got pregnant, and subsequently don't see using it much. We did a custom build as follows:
36/46t chainrings on Shimano Deore DX old school cranks on Shimano cartridge BB
Pedals are either Shimano SPD clipless or Axiom flats (your Choice)
Deore DX front friction shifter (very nice to micro adjust front Der.)
Hayes levers actuating Avid BB7 mechanical discs. If you know discs, you'll appreciate these.
Hayes discs on Shimano hubs. Front rim is a Mavix CXP22, rear is an Alex DA22. They are near identical rims, both are 32 spoke 15ga. black spokes. Both are true and roll nicely.
Rear cassette is an 11-34 t sram 950 (brand new)
Chain is a sram pc971 (brand new)
Rear derailleur is an Acera long cage
Front shifter is LX rapid fire plus.Bike shifts flawlessly
WTB Redline Aheadset (1 1/8") smooooooth
Titanium railed Avocet 140mm 02 saddle
Race Face Evolve stem and riser bar, Oury grips.
Bike has Specialized Armadillo tires 23mm cross section. These tires are arguably THE most puncture proof tires you can find that don't weigh a ton, and handle nicely. These are great tires.
The frame is in new to excellent shape. It measures 19" center of BB to center of (sloping) top tube. 21" to base of seatpost. Both my wife and I fit this frame really well, I'm 5'11", she's 5'7". The seatpost is 420mm long, so honestly, this bike suits anyone between 5'5" and 6' without feeling like you're riding a clown bike or a ginormous tall bike.
It is metallic flake Navy blue/purple with silver paisley patterns, one of the nicest paint jobs I've seen on a bike.
Bike comes with fenders, and will easily take a rear rack (not sure about the front).
It rides like a new bike (which essentially it is.)
I'm looking at $450 CAD firm. If you're American, that ends up being around $375 USD. I've looked into shipping to the lower 48, and it would be another $50-55.
There are no crap parts on this bike. Some of them aren't exactly high end, but nothing crappy. This bike will make an excellent commuter, as it will accept a rack on the fender mounts, or cyclocross bike if you replace the bars and shifters, or randonneur. It is very distinct, and pretty well kitted. *NOTE THAT THE PHOTOS ARE WITH AN 8 SPEED DRIVETRAIN* YOU'RE WELCOME TO IT IF YOU WANT TO GO BACK TO 8 SPEED*
Low ballers will be ignored. I'll keep the bike for my son.
Ride safe out there!
