This bike has a host of top tier parts and I have only used it a handful of times in the past 2 years so i should really sell it. The bike as a whole is in very good condition especially for a dh bike. There are no dents or cracks to the frame and there are only some very light scratches on the frame and the lowers of the forks. The kashima coated stanchions are completely scratch free. The frame is anodized so fairly tough wearing as well.

-Empire ap1 dh frame 2011
-Fox 40 kashima fit damper rc2 forks 2011 (tf tuned) note: 2011 kashima forks did not have the words KASHIMA printed on them but rest assured these are the good ones.
-Cane creek double barrel shock (with titanium spring upgrade)
-Saint cranks
-9 speed XO shifter and XO rear mech
-Mavic deemax ultimate wheels (in great condition and true) running tubeless setup with very good condition schwalbe hans dampf gravity star tyres.
-Renthal fatbar bar
-Renthal grips
-Renthal chainring
-Hope direct mount stem
-Hope Stealth Tech V4 EVO Brakes (£500+ new)
-Cane creek angle-set headset fitted (frame has wide 1.5" head tube to allow fitment of angle-set headsets - approx. 63.5 degrees head angle)

adjustable wheelbase (see rear dropouts) shortest wheelbase position gives 8" travel in the rear and longest setting gives 8.5"

high pivot design with idler pulley (similar to commencal's current dh bike in principal)

main pivot uses motocross style needle bearings so no play in the bearings whatsoever. much better than cartridge bearing designs.

a nice example of a awesome dh bike especially if your looking for something different in its unique cast frame design.
originally cost over £6500 to build (frame cost £3500 in 2011, forks cost £1450, brakes £500+ and wheels were around £800 excluding other bits new so this was no cheap bike).

note: slik graphics still sell aftermarket sticker kits for these frames if you fancy changing them for some other pattern or colours.

DETAILS FROM THE MANUFACTURER:

The single pivot design is utterly capable and reliable. Our carefully located pivot point delivers excellent high speed bump performance, constant wheelbase stability and a spot-on liner-to-rising rate for exceptional feel and response. The AP-1 is one of the fastest accelerating Downhill bikes currently available. It just is. The truly progressive suspension damping (ratio 1:2.8) needs to be experienced to be believed. There’s nothing else that comes close.

Working in tandem with the main pivot is a chain torque idler. This automatically adjusts for the chain line regardless of chainring size or gear selection at the cassette.

Full-compliment needle bearings are used in the main pivot as, unlike most other bike bearings out there, they’re designed to take high loads during rotational movement. You won’t be replacing creaky bearings every few months on the AP-1.

To get all techno for a moment, the AP-1 has a sprung/unsprung mass ratio of 70/30. This is exceptionally high for a bike of this type. Minimising unsprung mass does wonders for a downhill bike’s grip and suspension characteristics. It’s not an easy thing to do. But we have done it.
