2012 Custom Surly Disc Trucker, Complete Touring Package

This bike is still for sale, but I am currently travelling abroad and not able to complete the sale at this time. The bike is safely stored back in the US. I am selling my custom Surly Disc Trucker. I built the bike in the winter of 2012-13, and rode it on a ~1500 mile tour of the arid western US states that year. Aside from a handful of local day rides since, it has sadly sat unused, so the time has come to sell it. I built it with a lot of attention to detail, to be a sturdy traditional touring bike capable of riding around the world, if that's what your into. Included in the sale is a set of four Arkel Dolphin panniers.


Surly Disc Trucker frameset, size 62, frame-saver applied liberally to the inside of the frame and fork when I built it. There are a few minor paint chips and rubs, but overall the paint is in very good condition. No dings, dents or cracks, of course.

Wheelset: classic shimano XT six bolt rear hub, shimano alfine dynamo (generator) front hub, laced with 36 DT-Swiss Competion bouble-butted spokes and brass nips to DT Swiss TK540 rims. XT rear skewer, XTR front skewer. Panaracer Pasella tourguard skinwall 35mm tires (original rear tire still on the bike, might need to be replaced before you set off for a long tour, but this should give you an idea of how little use this bike has seen)

Hayes CX Expert disc brakes, with 160mm rotors. TRP RRL SR Retro brake levers (Drillium!) Cane Creek Cross-top auxiliary brake levers.

Shimano friction downtube front shifter, dura-ace 9-speed (index or friction) bar-end rear shifter

Shimano Deore 26/36/48 crankset

Shimano PD-A530 pedals (flats on one side, clipless on the other)

Shimano XTR M950 sgs long-cage rear derailleur

Shimano Deore front derailleur

Bontrager Race-Lite 27.2 seatpost

Salsa Cowbell 44cm handlebar (I can throw a 46cm in too if you want it)

Brooks B17 Flyer saddle- it's got a few scuffs but it's been very well cared for

AXA led dynamo front light with usb charger, trelock rear led light. The front hub will power both lights and charge your phone all at the same time!

Arkel Dolphin 48 rear panniers (https://www.arkel-od.com/dolphin-48-waterproof-panniers/ )and Dolphin 32 front panniers (https://www.arkel-od.com/dolphin-32-touring-gear/). These are some of the nicest pannier bags you can get. They've got a few scuffs that have been sealed with aqua-seal, and the seam-sealing tape is pealing away in a few spots inside, but overall they are in very good condition with a ton of life left. I will throw these in for $250.

This is a very nice package that served me well, but I haven't used it nearly enough, so it has to go to a better home. I would prefer to sell to a local buyer, and am willing to travel several hours to meet a serious buyer, but I am also willing to ship via bikefights if the buyer pays.
