The Beaver Valley Nordic Ski Club (BVNSC) has over 8 km of groomed, track-set country ski trails as well as almost 8 km of snowshoe trails for members to enjoy. Trails run along the top of the escarpment, through Crown Land (managed by MNRF), Grey Sauble Conservation (GSC) land, and private properties that the Club has permission to use. All trails have been GPS mapped and marked and are groomed and track-set through by the Beaver Valley Ski Club (BVSC). Trail junction signage ensures safe and easy navigation for skiers. The Nordic Club is constantly maintaining and improving the trails in the off season for the best grooming and track-setting possible.
Beaver Valley Nordic is an excellent example of what can happen when a group of people work together with a goal or cause in mind. Plans for the Club were in the works since 2012, but the 2013-2014 season was the first year of operation. Initially there were challenges with parking and public access to the trails, however the Beaver Valley Ski Club (BVSC) stepped up and gave permission to use the overflow parking lot at the top of the hill as the trail head, and also offered to groom the trails.
In its first year the Club garnered over 100 full time members, as well as many occasional trail users. President, Cathy Little, acknowledged the efforts of a dedicated Board of Directors, community partners and member volunteers for making the Nordic Club a success. In addition to BVSC, GSCA and the MNRF, the Club is grateful to the Beaver Valley Chalet Owners Association, the Kimberley General Store, Sea and Ski Realty and the Jensen family for their generosity.
