Salem Land Trust

We are an all-volunteer organization working to protect the Town of Salem’s remarkable natural resources found in its swamps, watercourses, meadows, woodlands and farmland.

The Salem Land Trust achieves it goals through acquiring land for public passive recreation, conservation easements on active farms and forestland, educational programs, nature walks, and land stewardship. We collaborate with town, state, and federal entities and other private conservation organizations.

Salem Land Trust is a member, along with the Lyme Conservation Land Trust and the East Haddam Land Trust, of the tri-town federally designated ‘Wild and Scenic” Eightmile River Watershed Management Committee. We also work with other land trusts in a larger regional effort to conserve the abundant natural resources found in the Lower Connecticut River Valley.

All who are interested in preserving open space in Salem are invited to join us. Your support helps ensure that natural growth and development in Salem are balanced with preservation of protected open space for the benefit and health of all.

The Salem Land Trust is accredited with the national Land Trust Accreditation Commission. We are very proud that we were only the second all-volunteer land trust nationwide to become accredited, in 2009, and the first nationwide to be reaccredited, in 2015.
