Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship (SCMTS) is an organization of local trail users who are committed to promoting and expanding responsible recreational trail access in Santa Cruz County. SCMTS members are mountain bikers, trail runners, hikers, equestrians and other trail users with a passion for taking care of the Santa Cruz Mountains by promoting sustainable trail building and use.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit , we work to foster responsible mountain bike recreation trail use. SCMTS enriches the local community through trail-building, maintenance, volunteer events, and cooperation with other trail user groups and local land managers.
Founded in 1997 as Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz to raise money towards the purchase of Gray Whale Ranch that was added to Wilder Ranch State Park, the organization rebranded to SCMTS in 2021 and boasts an impressive number of accomplishments and current projects.
SCMTS consists of over 700 members (and counting!) and a board of directors made up of dedicated volunteers and trail staff. The organization has hosts volunteer trail work events as well as employing a growing staff of 20 people that includes a full time professional trail crew.

Soquel Demo Forest. Wonderful epicness. These guys and gals keep that place rockin! They're building a giant flow trail out there that looks killer. Really appreciate what they do.
MBoSC hosts some great events like the Santa Cruz Mountain Bike Festival and the Santa Cruz Enduro. They also work hard on opening new trails throughout the county. Can't wait to see the Flow trail completed at Demo!
Great trail system and definitely some of the greatest in the world. I wish they would make it easier to find public trail days so I can come out and work on these amazing trails but I still love the area and what the trail builders have done.
