Wheel Life Cyclery is not really what you'd call a typical bike shop. Think of us as your local bike garage and place to hang out. Our focus is on repairing bikes, quality builds, and forging relationships with our customers. People are always welcome to grab a coffee, sit on the couch, watch their bike being fixed, ask questions, or just chat.
Our mandate is to raise the standard of service in Okotoks. To that end, we always give fair and honest quotes, and do things right the first time. Our shop is operated by a mechanic who has as much interest in keeping your old bike on the road as he does setting you up with a brand new ride.
Our priority is to minimize your bike's downtime. You'll never need to make an appointment to get your bike serviced, and we try turn most repairs around within a day or two.

The gentleman who runs this here shop is named Chris and he is the man. He is truly passionate about building and fixing bikes and he absolutely has the experience and know-how to get the job done. And I've approached him with some banged up bikes. Since he basically is a one man show, you know exactly who's working on your bike.
The atmosphere of the shop is the best part. Chris will brew you up a cup of coffee and will let you hang out and talk trails and gear while you watch him work on your bike.

I purchased a belt drive commuter from Chris December 11, 2013. The bike not delivered until February 3, 2014...almost 2 months.
After arrival, parts on the bike were NOT what was spec'd on the invoice. After riding the bike for 2 rides, the rear wheel had a few creaks coming from it. I took it to my local bike shop (I am not local to Okotoks). The mechanic there said that the wheels were built with the wrong size spokes, 3 different sizes of spoke nipple and one of this was cracked. Wheels would have to be re-built. He also inspected the bike and came up with a list of parts that differed from the quote.
An email was sent to the owner on Feb 9 outlining faults and deficiencies (with pictures). A full refund was offered (ship back at my cost) but I liked the idea of getting things fixed and having an owner respond to the concerns. No response was given. I had the bike fixed at my cost.
I rode the bike after repairs for a month and then asked for the refund offered as there were more issues (chainring bolts, brakes shaking, misaligned sprocket). Offer was rescinded but bike was offered to be fixed.
I shipped my bike to Okotoks on Apr 28 for repair with bike arriving on Apr 30. Nothing...I repeat...nothing was done on my bike until at least May 29th due to the owner going on honeymoon. Seriously.
2 further weeks passed with several emails, texts and phone calls unanswered and un-returned.
I got a text on June 12th saying bike was repaired. Did not receive bike until June 26...2 MONTHS later.

I am a bike commuter with lots of bike experience. I own a Cervelo P2SL, a Specialized Epic Expert MTB, a hand-built cruiser and my gong show Wheel Life commuter.
