Mountain Bike Hawaii, referred to as MTB Hawaii started up 4 years ago as an attempt to unify mountain biking in Hawaii and gives locals a common place to gather and share info. Eventually I started hosting races and other mountain bike events like the 6 Hours of Heck in Paradise and the Hawaii Bike Festival.
This year we started running Guided Tours and renting bikes. No touristy junk, but real authentic Hawaii Mountain Biking on high quality equipment. I'm working with Gunstock Ranch, Kahuku Motocross Park and the State of Hawaii for some seriously sweet trail access.
My biggest project right now is the Gunstock Ranch Bike Park. Gunstock Ranch is a 600 acre, privately owned ranch on the North Shore of Oahu. They have recently given permission to build a paid access bike park on the property. It's in the beginning stages but we'll be starting with a 5 acre mountain bike skills park. Not only will this be open to the public but MTB Hawaii will be basing operations from the Gunstock Bike Park and using it for guided tours and coaching/training camps.
In order to build and maintain the new bike park, I'm starting up a bike club. Active members of the club will get free access to the new bike park, deals on local goods, and just all around good times.
Lot's of sweet mountain bike stuff happening in Hawaii right now, stoke to be part of it!
