What step up/down ring do i need? Help please!

Hi guys im using a Canon HV20 with a 43mm lens thing? Im no good with the technicalities of this but basically i want to buy this lens;

And it comes in 37mm so i thought that basic logic would say i need a 37mm to 43mm step up ring? But i emailed an ebay seller and he said i needed a 43mm to 37mm step down ring? If anyone knows which one i need it would be reall appreciated!

You shouldn't get a lens that is any smaller than your camera filter size. Your camera has 43mm threads. Putting a smaller lens on (37mm) is physically possible, but it will cause vignetting in your footage (an ugly black halo all around the frame) and will decrease image quality significantly. Ideally you want to get a 43mm lens, but you can get a slightly larger lens if you want (just not smaller).
