Let's revive an old thread.
Create a source of inspiration and discussion for future builds.

Post your fixies here.
Specs, details are welcome.

I'll start.

dracones's Surly (title inspired from fixedgeargallery)

Here are the details:
Steamroller frame and fork, Brooks saddle, Alexrims wheelset, Soma 456 track handlebars, Sugino crankset, Surly tugnut chain tensioner, Time Atac pedals, no-name stem and seatpost.

Steel is soo smooth. Love it.

I'm looking for fixed cogs and I've found as small as a 12t is there anything smaller available out there? I have a BMX Flip-flop hub which have 2 different size hub shoulders to accomadate 2 different size freewheel bodies and would like to use this to go small in the way of a fixed gear cog.

I do not believe you can use fixed Cogs on a BMX hub. Fixie hubs have 16 threads normal thread and 16 threads reverse thread. you thread the cog on, and then you reverse thread on the lock-ring. In a BMX hub you have 32 threads on regular threads.

2007 Fuji Track. I changed the bars and added a brake but it's basically stock. It's a very cheap bike but I like the way it rides, comfortable on 40km commutes. Came with 48/16 but I think I'll get a 42 chainring and save my knees.

Converted and old Beekay (anyone know anything about them? I can't find anything) to a singlespeed this summer and just recently, a fixie. 49-18 gearing and 700c wheel in the back and 27" in the front.

Hey dude - I see you're from Calgary - where did you get the Steamroller frame from? Did you get a decent deal?

you better have some gnarly leg muscles, or a front brake to stop that beastly gear!

im unfamiliar with what a "fixie" is. could someone educate me? i can see they are single speed road bikes but is there any other differance?

I have to agree with fufalump. Thats pretty hardcore gear-ratio if your're planning to ride on street. Are you sure you want to push the uphills?

I personally wouldn't run more than 70 gearinches on street. Theres no need to go like 60km/h in city areas.

blackXLabel13:

Word fixie comes from "fixed-gear". Try google Wink

And it's not the same thing as singlespeed. Also trackbikes are "fixies".
