Found a nice spot for a road gap... This is after a few days of building. What do you think? i'm not sure about the distance, it is probably close if not more than 25 ft. You dont take off right above the road, you gap out about five feet till your over the road and then the road is maybe twenty feet. It' s a bit of a hip too. maybe ten feet of drop.
the posts are like 1.5 to 2 feet into the ground. 4x4's we need some more support just to keep it solid.
before they took it out because the neighbors bitched , the 10 foot drop at by local dirt jump/bike park had the posts 5 feet into the ground, it was stable as a rock. i know how deep they were because i had to dig the holes which sucked because the post hole digger was 4 feet long.
Here is another gap we made. 30 foot gap over a rock garden. i think we ar going to move the kicker next to the road gap or to the side and make a huge hip

that seams a little deep for supports but whatever works. they seam to be very sturdy being only 2 feet in. we have a lot of wood so extra support wont be hard to make.

yeah, i thought it was overkill too until i saw a 450 pound dirtbike with a 250 pound rider go off it and it didn't move at all. then i KNEW it was overkill but hey, it's a public park so there's that whole liability thing.

Dude, exactly my thoughts...everything I have ever made, I build to withstand the darn motos, they are going hit if you like it or not. We call it "stupid-built" as in terms to how insanely rigid the structure is...one more cross support is never overdoing it!
