No worries, happy to help. It's hard to know where the basics end after a while, it's such a steep learning curve. But I think that is why this will be a good resource as it's being composed by someone who starting from scratch so it won't become over complicated too soon.

May be in line for a sticky when it's done. What do you think Marquis?

Quick note about the safety check... You should also include suspension checks: Oil leaks, correct air pressure, scratches on stanchions, play in shock/frame bushings.

Also a general check of all bolts.

Crowns are what your fork legs plug into along with your steer er tube,also known as a yoke.

The top one is a dual crown (also known as triple clamp)

The bottom pic is single crown.
