Yeah I need some pictures :/ but also, what is the reason for pedaling and braking to "virtually lock out" the rear suspension?

With any suspension design the braking forces, pedalling forces and the suspension forces are all competing for control of what the bike is doing. A good design will balance them out or even better not compromise on any of them. Some shocks will allow you to "virtually lock out" the rear suspension using a compression damper for better pedalling efficiency when climbing. Some designs will cause the suspension to "virtually lock out" when braking because the placement of the brakes limits the movement of the linkages when fully locked up. I hope this answers your question.
