true. My jeffsy was about 2500€, kinda regret not getting a capra. Might instead keep the jeffsy and buy a 26'' downhill bike for park days. The prices are insane. 5k bikes that I've drooled over from 2014 going for under 1k
I just moved 30 min away from a bikepark that's open all year around. I ALSO have on my watchlidt a mondraker summum pro team full blown top of the line dh rig from 2016 properly looked after for 1000€

Bruh. Nice

Is it 650b tom?

Just get a credit card and when shit hits the fan call victim and go loot/riot
And yeah, in 5 years maybe you can get 60% of the current value unless the wheel size madness keeps going

Because it's on Boost, Microspline, 12 speed, 29", 35mm bar we should be future proof for a few years at least lol

A good friend of mine, who I'm about to build a morph for, was saying he'd prefer to go 11 speed to get a shorter cage mech (he's thinking less chance of rock strikes). I told him the problem with that is shimano have gone 12 speed all the way down to deore now - so in 2 or 3 or 4 years finding shimano 11 speed parts is going to be an absolute mission. They won't be making it any longer. He agreed. It's actually already harder to find 11 speed than it was only a few months ago.

This is how they get you lol

Or the credit card you were talking about in the other thread lol

Love to make you one one day bro!

So who's gonna start manufacturing SRAM/Shimano compatible parts for discontinued standards? If it's cheaper than the upgrade to more speeds maybe some would buy

Do you think making 'older' parts like these, 26" rims/forks, older axle standards, would actually be a good busines plan? I have thought about trying to do this someday although it would be nice if the manufacturers stopped just giving up on standars and inventing new ones...

If there was money to be made people would be doing it

It would be easy for fork and rim manufacturers to continue to support 26" - but they don't because they clearly don't think there's much money in it. Not worth dedicating capacity to it when they could allocate the same resources to 27.5 and 29 which are bigger markets and sell for better money. Particularly atm whilst there's a shortage of supply.

Hubs are relatively well supported because a lot of hubs have modular designs and can be configured for different spacings and axle diameters. I don't think you'd struggle to find a 135 or 142 spacing hub.

Supporting old drivetrains:
> Complex parts and assemblies - drivetrain parts like shifters and derailleurs aren't simple to design - lots of parts, lots of mechanisms, lots of factors than influence performance. Lots of R&D required
> Specialist equipment and infrastructure required to manufacture these and you couldn't set all that up just to make a few hundred units
> Intellectual property minefield - try to design drivetrain parts cross compatible with Shimano and SRAM without infringing on any of their patents etc
> The people who want to buy stuff for old standards rather than move up to 12 speed are likely very budget conscious. If it's even close to the cost of 12 speed stuff or moving over to Microsoft or Box or something it would make more sense just to upgrade the whole drivetrian
> 10 speed stuff is already dying off now - so as time goes on every year your market will get smaller and smaller. Not great future prospects

O+
