the reason people don't like konas are; they're heavy, stupid single pivot frames with a bunch of other linkage added to actuate the rear shock... adding weight, more parts to break, more bearings to replace, and really there is only 1 advantage over a normal SP bike.... an uninterrupted seat tube so that you don;t have to cut it down.
sure they added the floating brake on their higher end models, but still thats adding unnecessary weight to get the same performance you can get out of a VPP, DU, 4 bar horst,or maestro design. Also being SP they have TONS of pedal bob (people think that doesn't matter for DH but it sure as shit does)... so IMO konas are pieces of shit and i do have a reason to hate them oh so much

Kona DH frames are quite good, (stab and stinky) and the cross countrys are good if you bend that way,

but lets be honest apart from the Cowan DS, kona DJ frames suck big german hairy balls, there overpriced, very mainstream and built like a tank.

if you look at it from every riders point of view every bike made is the best bike ever...its all personal opinion i hear lots of people say kona sucks i ride an 05 scrap and i think its one hell of a bike i dont give two shits bout what others say about it

I think konas are alright but definatly not as good as most other bikes in the same price range. I thnk some of them are nice but I would never buy one.
