Ok, so a bit of background...I'm putting together a marketing plan for a marketing course in school. We have to come up with a product and market it. I'm putting together a proposal for an indoor park and could use some imput. However this is kinda late as its due this week. I have a couple questions, feel free to answer.

Would you rather pay a weekly, monthly or anual fee? Because unfortunately it couldn't be free.

Would you still be as motivated to go if certain areas had skateboarders? There would be areas skaters would not be likely to ride and even some dirt areas.

Would you continue to go over the summer?

Would you be willing to travel up to half an hour to get there? (depending on where in the city you live)

What kind of things would you want to see there?

I'll think of some more things but PLEASE put some input in here and tell others to do the same. There is a chance that when this is all said and done it could be presented to the city to show a bit of research and information on this idea and with some of the connections I have through work it could be taken somewhat seriously.

Thanks for your time

****edit**** There would also be the potential of running summer camps or some other sort of lessons if coaches were availible and the demand was high enough.

This sounds sick dude.... I would do it like a yearly or season kind of pass thing like COP and have a daily pass thing ... People like variate If its big enough and has varite of park and jumps it would be sick, Yes i would go over the summer. If there were sick spots and jumps that would be sick! Some stuff i would put in it would be A foam pit, resie ramp, flowy wood jumps probs a bowl type half pipe type thingYou could even consider putting in sections for each level of rider. Easy stuff like samll trials and rollers and stuff like that. intermediate stuff like medium jumps and a mini pipe thing, Hard everything thats intermediate just bigger! hope this helps and send your project to Neshi He seems like a pretty sweet guy

I think itd be sick if u had all three, u could pay a one time drop in fee, a monthly fee or a yearly fee, land if u have a seasons pass u get more benefits like more time in the park than other

definitly have daily monthly or annual passes

i would open a section of the park that only allows skaters. they like different shit than we ride, so if you built a medium sized park with "skate" style obsticles that would take care of them. also that would help build community, and reputation around the park.

i would say try opening over the summer. if one month of operations doesnt work out. switch to weekends only, if not close it down. the problem is you would have to pay to keep the space for that time, and money for that would need to come from winter riding/skating revenue which would mean kids have to pay more...

30 min to ride? no problem

mini ramp. rails. boxes... beginner sized. also i would say build some f*cking huge ramps. shit we would never think of being able to hit up. there should be massiveness!

this would cost a lot of money. warehouse space to house this size of project is NOT cheap. my suggestion is do some fundraisers around town for about a year. build some hype around the project, get alot of people involved. the only other issue i could see is how much it would cost to for insurance, to cover liability... and who would be building the ramps?

Much love Brothers!!! Financials are the one thing I'm still struggling with and hadn't really thought of fundraising haha. After chatting with Daryl about this over the summer he said he was sure he could get a couple people down for helping buid ramps with our assistance.

Monthly or annual passes for sure. Weekly passes just wouldn't make sense for locals. However, give daily pass opportunities for people visiting from out of town, its a great way to showcase Calgary riding community and get some more bros riding

Would you still be as motivated to go if certain areas had skateboarders? There would be areas skaters would not be likely to ride and even some dirt areas.

Opening the park to skateboards would be a good idea. We're 2 different sports and we like to ride different things, so why not let us. Plus if skateboarders were allowed in, it would create a better income for the park and we would be able to keep it open. Theres really not that many bikers in the city and we don't want to have what happened to the Source park again.

Keeping it open during the summer would be a good idea. Theres not much riding around the area so it would be nice to have more choices than just mt. coda and a few other locations. Guaranteed that people would ride there all year round.

Would you be willing to travel up to half an hour to get there? (depending on where in the city you live)
No questions asked I would. It beats having the drive to places like Three Hills to try and get some riding in.

Vert walls, boxes, spines, quarters, maybe even some dirt. Like Mike said tho, have some beginner sized stuff thats more user friendly and then some fun massive booters.

Awesome idea for a school project!
I would personally buy a yearly pass, but monthly would be a great idea ever. It would be worth it to have a daily pass rate as well but the fee would need to be proportionally higher for the single day pass vs the vearly pass.

I think that in this city the only way for this sort of a project to be economically feasible is to open it to skateboarders, there are a lot of skaters around who would be willing to pay to have a place to ride in the winter/rainy spring and fall days. Like Mike said they would be easy to take care of by building a medium park area where there are flat banks, boxes rails etc. this would also cater to the ever growing BMX population in clagary which would only help the potential for sources of income.

I would say haveing it open in the summer would be a good idea, think of the air dome in whistler, that place functions well in the summer so why not here? If similar features are available then there would be no reason to not open, especially because it would force competition with COP. In my opinion Tim, you could easily win that battle based on the incompetant buisness decisions being made towards the mountain bike park... You know what features would be sick and I think most people would agree with what you personnaly would want there because we all seem to want the same things like a park section, dirt jumps, foam pit resi etc. (could potentially be modelled after the features found in the Rays MTB park).

I would be willing to drive an hour (probably even more) to ride a place like this... half an hour is nothing...

I would be down for either monthly or annual

skateboarders too is a good idea, more funds to keep it going...

Would you continue to go over the summer?
Yes, as long as the park has some variety!

Would you be willing to travel up to half an hour to get there? (depending on where in the city you live)
to bike i would be willing to drive at the least half an hour lol, but the bigger the place the better, lots of variety is nice!!!!

What kind of things would you want to see there?
-Foam Pit
-Rezzyyyy jump
- and a jump the same size as the rezzy

monthly or annual, i would buy an annual its cow town you never know what the weather is goona do, so that being sad it should be open all year round. I think skaters should be allowed to shred after all it would be the same as skaters who hate on bikers at mills

i would travel A half out to go to the park its an indoor park, hell ya, especially if there were dirt jumps or even wood features that resembled dirtjumps
i think if you were to make a consistent lip that you could go into foam rezzy and dirt it would be amazing, then you would have a consistent lip and be able to take your tricks from foam to rezzy to dirt,

this is an awesome idea tim, it would be awesome if it could happen

weekly would be good cause some weeks im realy busy and other i would go everyday

skateboarders would be good but only ones who would pay, be respectful to bikers and not turn the place into another mills.

Would you continue to go over the summer?
of course , it would be sick to ride on days cop isnt open

Would you be willing to travel up to half an hour to get there? (depending on where in the city you live)
for sure, i drive about 30 min to get to cop ery day

What kind of things would you want to see there?
-Foam Pit
-rezy jump
- gap line
-trick jump/step
-flyout type senario
-vert wal

Id personally buy an annual pass, but the option of day passes or like a 3 day pass make a lot of sense for out of towners

yeah we'd be runnin the park to skaters wouldnt be a problem

Id be there all year round!

I'd drive up to like an hour and a half! we do for one box jump in three hills!

Box jumps ect what everyone else has said, and an area for scooters

Having yearly, monthly and day passes would be a good idea, maybe even winter passes too

There's no way it could be profitable or even sustain itself without allowing skaters, they need somewhere in the winter to ride too and it's usually them shoveling out the bathtub at mills haha. Having a section with more skate oriented stuff and then a bike section is a great idea, but each section should not be limited to biking or skating, because the skaters would probably stick to their section anyways and bikes might wanna ride the skate stuff now and then

To save a lot of money, I would say don't bother heating the place because as long as it's dry and sheltered from the windchill you wouldn't get cold working up a sweat riding

Lots of optional and creative transfer/gap lines would be awesome because beginners could take the main lines and better riders could hit the transfers off the same ramps but at higher speeds. All the best lines at mills weren't even meant to be lines hahaha. Hips are good too because beginners can hit it slow or you can launch it huge, so it would provide something for everyone without more ramps and wasted space

Of course the stuff to progress and learn tricks on such as a foam pit, rezi ramp, box jump etc would make everyone happy and definitely should be included

If this became i reality i would be stoked!!

I have been going over this project for a few years looking for affordable land. If you decide to start this project shoot me a private message as i have some connections in the building/building supply industry. we can probably get a few homebuilders to sponser the materials(like Cardel Place in country hills).
