Just wrapped up an edit on my RSD Middlechild before we essentially go into hibernation up here in Bend, OR. Hope it inspires you to get out and rip on your hardtail!

I wish there were more similar alternatives. I'd like a 9 or 10 speed with a 45T max sprocket and a shorter caged mech since my terrain eats derailleurs. I guess I should go for a gearbox bike next...

I'm in the camp of, "I only need the dinner plate cog if it happens to be available."

I currently have a 11-36 cassette that I plan to pair with a ZEE drivetrain when I decide to use gears again.

My +2000 feet fire road PR's from 2015-2016 are still standing because I was using an old 11-32 cassette back then. (on a 1x setup)

I know the opposite works haha! I wore out my cassette and didn’t want to wait for the new AdventX cassette to get in so I picked up a 10 speed shimano cassette from my local shop and it’s been going strong for 6 months, no shifting issues.

I have no doubts the derailleurs and cassettes are cross compatible. But I wonder whether that's the same with shifter and RD, and my internet sleuthing hasn't yielded anyone saying yes or no definitively, aside from Microsoft saying no of course.

Thanks in advanced for trying this sterling.

I will try the weekend. I am swapping things around on some stuff and have been genuinely curious myownself. One of the only drawbacks I have with Advents shifter is the non release clamp. I love my foam grips and once their on their on. So I get less bar swapping fun between bikes when that clamp goes on lol

Just built up this Specialized Fuse M4 frame after a year riding a Giant Trance. Swapped all the bits over to build this up. Took it for its maiden voyage yesterday and realised just how much I'd missed riding a hardtail!

Spec is as follows:

- Specialized Fuse M4 frame, size medium. Adjustable dropouts slammed for a 420mm chainstay length.
- Fox 34 Rhythm, 130mm travel
- Nukeproof Neutron stem, 35mm long.
- Specialized Alloy low rise bars, 750mm wide
- DMR Deathgrips
- Shimano BR-M520 brakes, 180mm rotors
- Shimano SLX shifter and rear derailleur
- Shimano SLX cranks & chainring, 30t
- Sram NX cassette, 11-50t
- Sram NX chain
- Shimano front hub
- Specialized Turbo Levo rear hub
- Giant AM rims, 29", 30mm internal width
- Maxxis Minion DHF Maxxterra front tyre, 29x2.3", tubeless, no insert
- Maxxis Aggressor Maxxterra 3C rear tyre, 29x2.3", tubeless, no insert
- Giant Contact dropper post, 150mm drop
- Giant Contact dropper lever
- Giant Romero saddle

Love the fuse. If anyone asks me what is the first hardtail (or mountain bike, for that matter) they should buy, I point them to the fuse.

Not really, unless you’ve got a fat bike! Just got 4” of snow today.

Definitely a killer. Exactly what I like to see. Its got personality.

Individuality too...

super bling builds or standard colour builds are so boring in comparison.

Change of cranks. They look beefy and not too jazzy.

At least the background doesn’t overshadow the bike lol

Get her next to some crazy architecture or fresh graffiti... or better still, get her duuuurty
