the budget $75 usd frame is nearly like what I currently have so no big change or worth wile and importing into England we get shafted on import charge as its near 35% tax as you pay tax on the tax unless you can get it as a "gift"

isnt to bad on weight either considering the 18" alas they dont have is only 1.7kg and the chinese frames are listed at roughly 1.2kg

but i dont need another ali frame as per the pic on my profile
https://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb5526995/p4pb5526995.jpg

which has different group set now and shifters as well but i think overall the whole bike is about 15lbs ish

i know it doesnt have disc brakes or removable dropouts but its 12 yrs old and still going strong although not much milage has been added because of work and family commitments

then the only other upgrade would be an older maybe carbon trec y or similar with added rear suspension say an old Y go for under £70 on evilbay!

but looks like then as the posts that i couldnt go carbon with the current marzoc bombers as they would potentially cause the over stressing of the frame DOH! that would mean more money to the pot and nearly a new bike!

I would rather buy the new chinese frame than an older trek y bike.

I have never seen a carbon frame with dirt jump/daul slalom specific geometery. As far as I know DJ bikes are cromo or aluminum, DS bikes are aluminum.

If you have found a carbon DJ/DS specific frame I really don't see why not. Just don't try to buy a small XC specific carbon frame and DJ on it, that will feel awkward and may not end well.

I have a Carbon ht from one of these companies and I love it. I've been running it for over two years and ran into some things really hard with no complaints. Besides, the companies that are making these frames are just in house versions of other big name brands. Don't be afraid.

What do people think of this?Unsecure image, only https images allowed: http://gotobike.cname02.cn/files/gls500006/501499.jpg
I've read some interesting things over at mtbr about the hongfu 29er fs. This 26er interests me. Was thinking of putting a manitou radium air shock with the custom factory tuning they now offer.

How much are they selling that frame for?

They are selling their fs bikes from prices ranging from $500-800. Thats not too bad at all except that they dont include a shock. The ones that do are some crappy KS things. In the case of the fm-m036 the shock is some strange size which makes it a tough sell, even though its a cool looking frame (its also the one i would like to have). Believe it or not Roade Bike Review has a Huge forum on Chinese carbon bikes and many posts are about mtbs. Most ppl are very very happy with their bikes. It seems though that the linkage bolts are pretty crude and the design is kinds slapped together. I would like to see some fs bikes built and l think there in the near future there will be many new designs coming out so our choices will be rather plentiful

$675 shipped. I heard some things about the hongfu 29er fs: that the bearings are rather crude as mention, as in just a bolt in some places, and that the frame seemed rushed with small issues with e type derailleur alignment. This frame however seems to use full bearings with what looks like a regular bushing in the back.

at that price I'm really considering it some time in the early new year. It's either this or a hardtail for about $525 with all the parts i'd need. This pushes a little over 900 with shock and everything else.
