Alright, so. I'm looking to have a commuter mobile, and right now I'm honestly considering an electric assist bike as my around town machine. I do want something with some form of assist, as otherwise I'd just ride my Fapital.

Can anyone make any suggestions? Range should be at least 25km per charge/tank or whatever, and price is a defining factor. I already own the bike I'll be converting.

Is there anything else I should look at?

Get a moped and then put a 20mm axle thing on to carry your bike around with you. I had a small 90cc motorcycle for that, works great. You can find a moped for the same price as an electric assist bike

To my knowledge you need a motorcyle license and insurance for anything over 49cc, which means I'd be paying for something slower.

You do need an endorsement for a motorcycle (in america) and thats a 3 day course. So i dont know about canada. But you could take that, and insurance is usually cheap to add on if you have a good record

But in the end it still makes it a more expensive and a likely slower unit.

49cc bikes can be super fast, but I understand your point on the more expensive in the end. What about one of those grubee skyhawk engine kits? find an old MTB on craigslist/local thrift store, then those bike engines. 30mph and plus

I can get an electric assist from the store I work in.

I can't say, but under retail. Bionx would be what I'm looking at.

Well if its more than 400, just get the skyhawk

Seems a -bit- more intricate than tossing a wheel on.

It is, they can take a little work. but they do go fast, especially if you are smaller. Besides, dont you want wind blowing through your mustache?

It won't be able to go over 50 km/h, as that's the only areas it'll be legal to ride. The Bionx goes faster than that, so it's fast enough.

I'll look into it though. It's a good alternative if it's not a project unto itself.

Am I just imagining it, or did that video say at 0:22 "to really save you money"?
Would have thought that it would have been the opposite and made you fat(ter).
