Hey everyone,

Just woke up to the fact that my Santa Cruz vp free was stolen from the New westminster district in Vancouver.
its candy apple red, 66rc on the front a dhx 5.0 rear shock xt gearing and truvativ cranks. Its not insured so im really screwed.
If anyone sees it or hears of it I will give a good reward to anyone who can get it back to me no questions asked. I ride 4 times a week usually at sfu. they broke into the apartment broke an internal door cut the lock on the bike room cut the cable and left,no cars were messed with they came just for the bike.

Small vs. Medium?

I've been riding a Med VP Free for some years now and have been wondering if I had been better off getting a small in the first place. I'm a little over 5'8''. Has anybody tried both. Most people I talked to say I should have gone small. I'd consider trading for a small or maybe get a different bike altogether. I guess that would be a different topic!

BTW, I am currently experimenting with the shorter shock length and am not totally sold on its changes.

At 5'8" I htink a small might've been the better bet. I have a MED and I'm 5'10", and I somtimes think its a little big. I just got as short of a stem as I could find to make the cockpit a little smaller and I'm OK, but your shorter than me so...

Free's run large - at 6'1" my medium seems right on

Question on the "creak" sitch....

going to replace my bearings and thru-axles - should i check into a lower link too?> it's got the dreaded pick-it-up-by-the-seat-clunk and creak-when-you-pedal-uphill thing going on...

so for the creak question i found that it was just the berings. i have replaced the links as well but found that that was just a waste. the bering kit is all that is needed.

You might try pulling the bearings, and rebuild them. That is what I did and it saved me some cash from buying the bearing kit. I would replace/rebuild all of then since you are going to be pulling bearings anyway.

this is probably a dumb question, so my bad on the ignorance, but i noticed a couple of the VP's in here don't have the junction between the top tube and seat tube. Is that because they are smaller sizes or different models? cheers

im fairly sure its a size deal. but then agen i have only seen the vp wthought it on a smal frame.
