Sure its a 2007? I swear they stopped making the vp free with a 1.1/8 headset in 2005. after that they were all 1.5

They introduced the 1.5" head set during the second run in 2007, my old frame was an 07 and it had 1 1/8 head tube.

Is anyone racing dh on the vp free? How does it handle it? I'm thinking about picking one up.

not bad used to race mine! it wont keep up with a proper racebike in corners though due to a high bottom braket but over the knarly rocks and drops the bike kicks ass

Keep up? Come on, I smoke all my friends that ride full on race bikes (or at least I like to think I do)! But seriously, when the sag is set right the BB may be a little high but I can rail corners with the best of them, I think the long wheelbase helps a lot and cornering requires a little more rider input but the gnarlier the trail, the happier the VP free is on them. If you race once or twice a season as opposed to every weekend and shuttle all the time then the Free is definately a great option. There was a reason this bike was so popular. The best thing to do is test ride someones and see what you think. These things take a flogging. I've had mine for 4 seasons now and a friend of mine has gone through two IH Sunday's in 12 months.
