just bought a brand new pair of saints and not sure they work. reason is i have always had shitty brakes and the saints feel much diffrent. they only really bite pretty close to the bars with freestroke as low as possible. is this normal or are they faulty?

I would do a fresh bleed. My brakes are really grabby but modulate super well at speed and engauge about 2/3rds stroke. That free stroke screw is useless.

Yeah, about a week. The pads need to bed into the rotor. To get that super powerful breaking I use them on a long downhill and gradually drag them to a full stop about 10 times and they should be good. I weigh almost 300 pounds with full gear and I can stoppie all day. But if the gold dial doesn't fix the issue you have with the lever stroke so close to the bar, then they will need a bleed. From my experience with shimano brakes there may be air in the system, or low volume in the oil resivoir.
